Okay so, for whatever reason, I found this episode very funny. Maybe it's because I was in a good mood already, maybe it's because these people are delightful, maybe it's because it was just a funny episode. But, I quite enjoyed the lightheartedness of it. Plus Julian being anxious about calling the guys was relatable and kind of delightful. I love Julian. He has captured my heart. It doesn't hurt that he loves Brooke so much either. ❤️
We've got a few separate storylines this episode. Brooke encourages Julian to hang out with the guys to figure out who his best man is going to be. (It's obvious it should be Jamie, but I fear it's going to be Alex). He sets up a poker game for the guys and, unfortunately, everything goes wrong. Everyone is upset at everyone else for a multitude of reasons and poor Julian just gets stuck in the middle. It doesn't help that Alex has shown up (for Chase related reasons) and cheated to get Julian to win basically all the hands.
Meanwhile, Brooke goes to a bridal expo with Julian's mom and completely disregards everything that Brooke wants. Brooke tries to politely tell her the things that are important to her (her being sad about ugly bridesmaid dresses was kind of beautiful), but Sylvia is on a mission. Eventually, Brooke calls in Haley for backup, but Haley is hormonal and loves everything that Sylvia likes. (And all the food. Did we mention she's pregnant? Lol.) Brooke makes her leave, but doesn't manage to make any headway. She eventually finds her passed out from too much champagne and takes her home and tucks her into bed. Sylvia tells Brooke how much she loved the day and how much she's always wanted a daughter. And how happy Brooke makes Julian. But, please don't tell Julian about her drinking. Brooke ends up keeping the secret. No idea if that's come back to bite her in the ass.
While all this is going on, Clay sends Nathan to talk to some football guys about why one of his client's contracts fell through. However, Nathan doesn't know the lingo and ends up looking like an idiot, which makes him super upset with Clay (see above where everyone at the poker game is pissed at everyone else). However, it turns out that Nathan actually landed the client and it looks like he might actually be a good agent. I love this for him.
Haley is upset about Erin, who finally calls her and Haley tells her about open mic night, even though she knows she shouldn't. Erin ends up hanging up on her. She spends most of the episode desperate to Erin to call back, but she doesn't. She does, however, show up at the label and ask Haley if she really liked her music or just wanted to keep her from killing herself. Haley assures her that her music is wonderful and they have plans to meet again later in the week.
Um, we didn't know that Mouth got his name from Nathan punching him in the mouth, right? Nathan is so a different person now, that I was shocked when I heard Mouth say this. But, then everyone agreed, and I remembered how far he'd come.
Also, I so don't care about this Chase and Alex drama.
