You guys. This episode was amazing. Yes, I realize I've been saying that a lot. It seems like the Jax/Clay issue has finally come to a head. The rest of the club is ready to speak up about it. I have no idea where we go from here.
So the club is heading out to do some kids charity ride that doubles as a cover for their gun running. Before they head out, they all make fun of Bobby for his old ass broken bike. During the trip, his bike malfunctions and forces Tig to fall off his bike and down a ravine. The club takes him to a hospital (he needs stitches), but while there, one of the admin calls a bounty hunter (apparently that's a thing) and he gets picked up.
Turns out, there is a split. Half the club wants to go after Tig and rescue him, but the others are sticking with Clay, who says they have to run the guns. Jax calls for Clay to ask for a vote, but Clay blows them off telling them, vote if they want, but he's running the guns. Out of the blue, Piney shows up on the flat bed and hands Jax a shot gun. Everyone who wants in Operation Rescue Tig gets on the truck and Piney drives over to the inn. He literally crashes into the motel and they extract Tig. This was amazing. Zero notes.
However, Opie is Team Clay, as opposed to Team Jax. This sucks so much because Opie has no idea that Clay planned to have him killed. Jax, meanwhile, absolutely knows this, but won't tell him because he knows it will break Opie's heart. This is so hard to watch.
After the rescue, the club is talking about how Clay and Jax need to figure their shit out. Jax tells Clay he's sorry about the day. But Clay doesn't care about this. He's more concerned with Jax undermining him at every turn. Jax asks him how he's supposed to get over the fact that Clay planned to kill his BFF and in the process, killed his wife. Clay was all like, I don't know, but figure it out. If you bring this shit up again, I will kill you. And as much as I don't want to believe that's true; I kind of do.
While all of this is going on, Gemma gets a special delivery of the mask that was worn by the guys who raped and tortured her. She figures out which specific guy it was by his tattoo and stakes him out with the intention to kill him. Eventually, when she catches him alone, she has a clear shot, but hears him talking to his son on the phone. I'm guessing this is the reason she chose not to take the clear shot, but it could just be that she 'chickened out.' But I really think it's because she doesn't want a take a kid's dad.
Later, Unser checks up on her. He tells her that he has no idea how to help her, but the best he can do is promise that no one will hurt her again. It's actually quite sweet, but I have no idea how he'll ever be able to keep that promise.
