Arrow 5X5: Human Target

OMG. You guys, I am such an idiot. Up until now I thought Rory and Prometheus were the same person. 😳 I couldn't figure out why he didn't kill Oliver yet. He's had 8 zillion chances. What is wrong with me? Maybe it's time to go back to the eye doctor. (It's actually well passed time).

So, anyway, Felicity manages to track Rene to a warehouse, but when Evelyn and Rory get there, they realizes he's just been moved. Again, Felicity finds him and Oliver shows up and saves him. But it turns out that what Church wanted to know was Green Arrow's identity. And, while he was being tortured, Rene gave it up. So, now Church knows Oliver is Arrow and it's gonna be a lot easier to kill him when he's the mayor and not the Arrow.

John is back (!) and suggests he has a solution to this problem. A man with a certain set of skills. When Oliver is leaving City Hall with Thea (you can be sure this will be in the thumbnail) he and his body guards get attacked. All three are shot and 'dead.'

We then cut to Lance giving a press conference on how Oliver is dead, but we almost immediately see that Oliver is watching the press conference with the team. Fake Oliver shows up and we find out that their was a double pretending to be Oliver. This guys 'skill' is basically getting killed as a career. (I wonder what the qualifications are for that?) But, either way, Oliver is fine.

After John sits with Rene, they do some meditation and are able to extract some stuff from his brain that he heard while he was going in and out of consciousness. And how they figure this out is almost to hard to suspend disbelief on, but I'm just gonna go with it. But, they realize that what Rene heard was the time and location of five cities doing a consolidated drug deal. Church showed up here because he wants to use the docks for this, and with the Green Arrow out of the way, he's got unfettered access to bring all the drugs they want into the city.

But, now that they know the plan, the team (plus Arrow and human target guy) all show up. Oliver manages to get Church alone and they fight. Oliver wins. And, for whatever reason, they all decide that since he's going to jail, they don't need to worry about him knowing that the Arrow is Oliver. I don't get it, but they all seem fine with it. However, while he's being transported, Prometheus shows up and after getting out Oliver's name, he proceeds to kill Church. So it looks like maybe the big bad of this season isn't Church, it's Prometheus. Curiouser and curiouser.

And after this, this reporter who has been saying shitty stuff about Oliver for a while now, is conspiring with someone to prove Oliver was in Russia (becoming Bratva) when he was supposed to be in Lian Yu. This is gonna be a mess. Like we don't already have enough problems. Sigh.
