Arrow 5X3: A Matter of Trust

You guys. Why is this show so good? And why don't I know anyone who's seen it? Seriously, this is the most fun show.

So we're got a new drug, worse than Vertigo. And, while Wild Dog tells Oliver that he knows the area that it's being manufactured in, Oliver tells him to stand down and let Felicity to her work up. That does jive with him and he and Evelyn (?) go to do recon that turns into a giant fight. They end up making a superhero who can't feel pain. Fun.

Oliver is hella pissed. Especially once he realizes that the DA had a whole plan to bring this guy down and now it's ruined. He forbids the team from doing anything. Eventually, Felicity talks him down and once Oliver realizes there will be a whole army of people who can't feel pain, he lets them suit up and trusts them to work with him.

They manage to stop more superhumans from being created, and Oliver realizes he can stop Sampson (I think) by just slicing all his tendons. Doesn't matter if he can't feel it, if he can't move. It was kind of a brilliant move.

Meanwhile, Thea's plan to appoint Quintin after Oliver told her not to is coming back to bite them in the ass. She tries to fix it, but ends up making it worse. After that, she tells Oliver she's going to resign. Oliver calls a press conference and publicity announces Quintin as deputy mayor. Fingers crossed this keeps him sober.

And, while all this is going on, John is in jail. Lyla is trying to get him out, but he tells her to stop fighting for him. While in there, he hallucinates (I think) Lawton in his cell. He's convincing himself that he deserves to be in jail for killing Andy. And yeah, maybe, but also, absolutely not. So, Lyla shows up at the Arrow cave and tells Oliver she needs his help breaking him out of prison.

I'm so ready for him to come back to the team. I actually would prefer if Thea stayed in the capacity she's at right now, but I'd like for John to come back. However, I think that would be a lot of people on the team, but I'm guessing we're gonna lose Ragman at some point once he turns on Oliver, right?

Oh, and Felicity finally tells him the truth about Havenrock. She's so distraught, and it doesn't help that he says nothing and just turns and walks away. I feel so horribly for her here. 😥
