One Tree Hill 8X1: Asleep At Heaven's Gate

OMG. I was SO MAD when it seemed like Quinn and Clay were actually fine. Like, dude, come on. You can't do that to me. Turns out, they didn't. So, now I feel guilty that I yelled at the show. Lol.

Anyway, Clay and Quinn seem to go on their magical adventure of a day. Everything that could be good, was. They are just basking in how much they love each other and how happy they are. But, of course, it was not meant to be. The two of them are still unconscious (and have been for, like, 20 hours at this point) and basically left for dead. Nathan tries to check on them, but Clay (obviously) doesn't answer the door) and he settled for a phone call that he can't possibly answer while on his way to training camp.

Nathan and Haley try to figure out how to explain to Jamie how pregnancy works. Both they both fumble it. Eventually, Nathan bribes him with a video game so they don't have to talk about it. It's sort of cute. But, Nathan actually needing to leave, is way less cute. I hate it. But, he makes Haley promise that she'll leave Jamie with Brooke occasionally so she can come to visit him.

And, while she agrees, we find out that Brooke has gotten arrested. Through no fault of her own. Turns out, both Millie and Victoria lied to investors about how much they were really doing in profits. They claim they believed in Clothes For Bros so much, that they just needed to get a little bit ahead. But, of course, this totally screws Brooke over. And Victoria has the gall to blame her because she hasn't been around lately. Bitch. If you choose to lie, that's on you. So not okay. I'm totally on Brooke's side here. And it's even worse because she spent the morning telling Julian he doesn't need to worry about getting a job so soon, because she's rich.

I'm not really interested in the Mia/Chase/Alex relationship. I'd have totally had an opinion on it six months ago. But, I've grown to really like Alex (and while she's probably bitchy for flaunting this to Mia), she's really not doing anything wrong.

Also, is it just me, of does Brooke totally relaxed in bed browsing wedding magazines in her glasses endear everyone else to her as well?

Also, thumbnail wise, I LOVE Brooke and Julian, and I feel for Clay and Quinn right now, but a happy Naley will get me every time. 😳

That's an interesting take on the dialogue. Yes CC can certainly be wrong and has been on more than one occasion on this show, but in this instance, it clearly sounds to me like Nathan says stash the kid...and James definitely accentuates the "d" at the end for kid. I know that all episode long Nathan had been wanting both Haley and Jamie to move to Charlotte with him while he was playing, and then at this ending scene he does tell Haley that he threw both hers and Jamie's things in the car....hoping she would change her mind, but when she doesn't and just says "I wish", I took Nathan's words right after to mean that he knows her and Jamie won't be coming because Jamie has school, so that's why he tells Haley to stash the kid with Brooke and get his baby and his other baby to Charlotte as much as possible. Either way...is definitely sweet of him for sure, but it doesn't really make sense for Nathan to say stash the key with Brooke, as Naley wouldn't need to leave their key with Brooke if nobody was home, plus Nathan knows how much time Brooke loves spending with Jamie and is always clamoring for more time with him, so it just seems more fitting this way. It is interesting how we can interpret the same scene so differently though, hehe. It's a good back and forth discussion....thanks!!!

I think the CC is wrong. What I heard Nathan say was to stash the key with Brooke and get his baby (Jamie) and his other baby (unborn) to Charlotte as much as possible. Right before that he said he threw hers and Jamie’s things in the car in hopes of changing her mind. Also, earlier in the epi he was talking about Haley and Jamie moving to Charlotte and her tutoring him.

Me too...and I love that it was a running theme for more than just this one episode, hehe. I only wish we got to see Naley have to explain it to him in an appropriate way a 7/8 yr old could understand and be satisfied with, lol. That would have been the ultimate golden scene for sure, lol.

Love this episode so much....it's one of my favorite premieres and a toss-up between 7x01 and this one for which one I watch more, lol. Also, great choice with the Naley thumbnail....you had plenty to pick from with this episode. I figured you'd either pick the one you went with at the end, or the beginning one with them in bed together. You couldn't have gone wrong with either, but that beautiful Naley bed scene with Nathan's speech was actually used for the promo still shots of the episode and it went around the press circuit and all the tv industry magazines at the time. I still have the one with them from TV Guide, lol. It's a beautiful image indeed :) Loved the beginning recap with all the main players because it was all such important things to highlight, and Naley excited about their pregnancy never gets old, hehe, and I loved that you didn't figure out that Clay and Quinn were in their very own private dream world, lol. It made your reaction to the end very authentic and enjoyable for us to watch. I kinda thought it was pretty obvious with how they had them dress and behave, and they were the only ones on the beach, and they weren't answering their phone calls from Naley, but I'm glad for you that you didn't initially guess what was going on, hehe. And Naley in bed together and Nathan telling Haley that he wants a daughter just like her (which he's been saying since S5, lol) and that he wants to look into her eyes and feel his heart break because she reminds him so much of her beautiful, kind, strong mother absolutely melts my heart. It's another amazing speech by Nathan, and it's funny that he said way back in S4 that he's not good with speeches, but the man has no trouble spouting off all these incredible poignant speeches for his wife. Such a beautiful moment for those two, and when Haley then asks him what if they have a boy, and Nathan responds with then we'll sell him and try again, and we get to see Haley's big, amazing smile again.....talk about turning into a puddle of goo, hehe. It was such an earnest and heartfelt scene....and all the JL's unscripted moments in that scene were incredible to watch. Their connection and chemistry never fails to amaze me.... they only get stronger and stronger together as time goes on. Also loved all the family scenes and them telling Jamie about the baby and him wanting a brother, lol, but then immediately being so curious where babies come from and catching his parents both off guard, lol. Nathan and Jamie's scene at the rivercourt was priceless, and Jackson was so good doing all the impressions from fans at MSG, Boston, and L.A., lol, and then going right into the Naley scene in their bedroom where Haley is questioning Nathan about what he said to their son, lol. So damn funny, lol. Nathan wanting Haley and Jamie to go with him was so sweet and endearing, and Haley reassuring him that she's feeling better, so he doesn't have to worry, but she appreciates the fact that her sexy husband doesn't want to leave home, and then their banter on the bed always melts my heart. Naley is just the best. Also, Jamie and Chuck looking up lady rabbit sex on the internet will never not be funny, lol, and Nathan grounding Jamie for 2 weeks but then distracting him with a new video game to change the subject was hilarious, lol, and then telling Haley to make war, not love babe will always be a classic one liner from Nathan Scott, lol. And that Naley scene at the end by their pool where they discuss things, and Nathan tells Haley that they have money and she has time so to stash the kid with Brooke (Jamie) and get his baby and his other baby (Haley and his unborn child) to Charlotte as much as possible, before he tells her that he doesn't mess around....she's seen him lower the hammer, was hilarious, lol. Those two saying goodbye to each other and embracing in a hot passionate kiss, coupled with their sweet endearing words to each other about how in love they are and it's everything after all this time....is so damn satisfying. No other couple could pull that off after 8 seasons together the way Naley can. So excellent choice with that thumbnail, hehe. Also enjoyed Brooke and Julian and her surprise arrest, and the reveal of C/B problems at the hands of Victoria...stunning indeed. And Clay and Quinn were great in their own world...and then we see Nathan going to the beach house to knock on the door, and then leaving when he doesn't get any answer, and we flash to the present with Clinn still bleeding out on the floor....so the suspense continues. I always enjoy this episode very much...and yay for the theme song being back.

Melissa

I loved the whole "where do babies come from" bit, lol.
