Friday Night Lights 5X12: Texas Whatever

I can't believe we've only got one more episode. I expect to be very emotional during the finale. This show was so much better than I expected it to be. I'm going to miss these characters.

So, we've got Tami who really wants to take this job in Philadelphia. But Eric is being stubborn about it. He's not even really willing to have a conversation about it. He just keeps talking about his job. And Tami's all, 'Dude, we've moved around for your job for 18 years. Maybe it's my turn.' He doesn't disagree with what she's saying, but he's not having it either. It's weird. These two fight often, but they are typically quickly resolved. Generally by Eric realizing he was wrong and apologizing, and Tami is often quick to forgive. But this one feels different. I'm a little concerned for them.

Meanwhile, we're waiting to find out which football team in Dillion is going to be cut. The hearing for it is so out of control, that they basically just end up cancelling it. But a decision is still made. The Lions are out. So, now we're going to have a super team that will be run out of Panther's facility. Buddy tells Eric that he's gonna be the coach of the Dillion Panthers again and he should embrace and enjoy it. But Eric says he can't go back to working for them again.

When he gets home, he tells all this to Tami who congratulates him. Making sure he knows that he hasn't bothered to do the same when she got offered the job.

In other news, Tyra is back. And she seems to be the only one who's getting though to Tim. They end up having a couple of conversation, and later sleep together. She makes him take him to the land he bought and they survey the beauty of Texas together.

Becky and Luke are still fighting. He's convinced she's still in love with Tim (and I think she is) even though she tells him she's not. But what she said really sounded like, 'I want Tim to love me because I love him so much, but he doesn't want me, so I'm settling for you.' And then she's confused when Luke gets upset. Whatever. I'm not really invested in this relationship anyway.

Mindy is pregnant with twins. Billy is thrilled. Mindy is freaking out. Especially with what's going on in Dillion right now. It's very probably that Billy won't have a job coaching soon. And Mindy can't really work as a stripper while pregnant with twins.

So, the episode ends with a bunch of the coaches from the Panthers showing up at the Taylor house to talk to Eric. Tami reminds him of her 18 years of service as a football coach's wife, before pivoting to Southern hospitality for the guests.

While I don't think it'll happen, I will be so upset if this ends with Eric and Tami not staying together. I feel like Eric will come around. But that's only because it's in his nature to do so. The show isn't really showing me that right now. Eek.
