9-1-1 6X3: The Devil You Know

Okay, so this could so easily have been an episode that I hated. Focusing on solving a 40 year old case in Florida, far away from our friends. And had it been any other case, I think I might have. But this is the case that get Athena to be a cop. And we got to see her do what she does best. Most of the time, we're heavily focused on the 118 since most of our characters are there and Athena doesn't always get to shine. But she really did in this episode. Also, I feel kind of validated for immediately thinking the contractor was sketchy last episode. Lol.

Because the body was under Samuel's house, the police are immediately interested in him as a suspect. Mom claims it's insane. But Athena isn't so sure. She remembers that night and her dad came home late and was filthy. She catches Bobby trying to find evidence to exonerate her dad, and she ends up furious. But mostly because she's afraid he'll find evidence that he did it.

Eventually, Athena starts digging into it herself, and she goes over to the neighbor's house to look at the scene herself. However, the neighbor pulls a gun on Athena and Bobby and blames Samuel for killing her sister. But, once we get in the house, we get the full story. She and her sister both snuck out the night she went missing. She lost track of her sister and assumed she went home. However, she was accosted by contractor guy. With the window still open from her sneaking back in, people just assumed someone came in through the window and took her, and her sister just let them believe that all this time.

Anyway, Athena, the detective who is working the case, and Bobby all sort of figure out the truth at the same time. Bobby rushes to try to save the neighbor who is being held at gun point by contractor guy. He gets there just in time. And Athena and detective guy roll up just after. Athena chases him through the orange groves, just like he chased her as a child, finds him and knocks him out with a shovel.

Turns out he was a fucking serial killer. With at least 6 girls. Fuck that asshole.
