Arrow 4X9: Dark Waters

Okay. Up until the end of this episode, I was really, really enjoying it. I thought it maybe going to be my favorite episode. But then, they hit me with this? Are they serious? I mean, I knew once the two of them got engaged, that they were too happy, and something was going to destroy it. But I didn't want it to be this! I honestly have no idea if Felicity is gonna live or not. But Barry being the one who was with him at the grave makes me nervous.

Anyway, Oliver does some hippy crunchy cleaning for his campaign, which Darhk decides is the perfect thing to attack. He's got a drone shooting at innocent people, including children. Felicity is able to take it down, but there are dozens of people who are injured.

Arrow and Co makes the decision to expose Darhk, knowing it will make them all targets. Oliver holds a press conference and tells the people of Star City that they know who is in charge of the ghosts, and puts his picture on TV.

Meanwhile, Felicity's mom finds the engagement ring, and she and Felicity rejoice for a bit. Later, due to a conversation with Curtis' husband, Felicity realizes that Oliver means to propose months ago. She confronts him about it, but they get interrupted when Darhk crashes the holiday party and takes the people Oliver loves most: Felicity, Thea, and Diggle.

Oliver calls Darhk and agrees to give himself up for their freedom. (Why we always believe the bad guys will keep their word is astounding). He's taken the hideout, and reunited with Felicity. She's pissed that he's here to trade his life for theirs. They also have a conversation about  why he didn't propose, and she tells him if he had, she would have said yes.

Then Darhk throws Felicity, Thea, and Diggle in a gas chamber (I mean, not really, but basically, that Oliver has just watched some other guy die in). Oliver is forced to just watch, as Diggle and Thea try to unsuccessfully break the glass from the inside. Felicity is busy telling Oliver that she loves him. Just as they are starting to pass out from the algae (it's algae blooms, not gas), Laurel and Malcolm show up. Laurel does her canary screech thing that causes the glass to break and the trio manage to get out.

Oliver and Malcolm team up to 'take down Darhk.' They have him tied up and set an exploding arrow on a timer next to him. They escape, but Darhk does some magic mumbo jumbo, and also manages to escape.

Later, Oliver is giving another press conference and during which, he proposes and Felicity happily accepts. But, you know what happens when our characters are too happy. On the way home (or wherever they are going) they get ambushed by Darhk's men. They surround the limo and shoot what must me hundreds of bullets into it. Oliver covers Felicity in the backseat for a time, but eventually crawls to the driver's seat and drives them away from the chaos. But when he pulls Felicity out of the car, she bleeding and lifeless. I truly have no idea if she's dead or not. I'm obviously hopeful that she's not, but I don't know. Usually, when a main character COULD die, I always assume they won't. But something about this instance makes me way less sure. I am not having a good time.

Comments

It's been stuck in my head since I watched this. And once I remember why, it totally freaks me out.
