You know, when I was watching this episode, I was annoyed at the way it was structured. All I wanted to do was see how it was gonna go down with Renee. But we had all this all bullshit in between. But, in hindsight, I think this was a really good way to present this story. I'd like to apologize for my yelling about it during. 🤣
So, anyway, Renee is on Dan's show. Unbeknownst to her, the final segment is her getting hooked up to a polygraph machine to see if she's telling the truth. The results come back, that she is. However, Dan then hooks himself up, and says a bunch of stuff that are obvious lies and they all come back as the truth too. Turns out, this was all bullshit. But then he claims he's got body language experts backstage who analyzed her while she was answering, and they know she's lying. (This is a lie, there's no one back there). She ends up admitting it was a lie. She never slept with Nathan and it's not his baby.
Naley, decided to not even watch after a little while and just went outside to enjoy the evening together. Quinn had to go get them when this broke. Obviously, they are relieved and so am I. I didn't realize quite how anxious I was about it until it was all over.
Also, we find out that Dan was able to know that Renee was lying because a con man can always spot a con man. And we find out that Dan did get a heart transplant, who knows how long ago (but that scar looks old). He's totally milking his I could die at any moment shtick. It's very Dan. I do wonder about Dan's motives for this though. Does he think this is going to help repair his relationship with Nathan? Or was this just really good TV?
In other news, Brooke finally admits to Julian that she wanted to marry him, but he hurt her feelings when he told his dad they weren't getting married. He assures her that he plans to be with her forever. However, he is still working with Alex and Brooke is still not happy about it. But he claims it's a really good script now. I don't know how they are going to handle this.
We got more backstory on both Clay and Quinn. And I continue to enjoy Clay, and Quinn, not so much. Basically David 'sold out', and starting chasing material stuff and money, and Quinn just wanted to be broke, happy artists. Clay, on the other hand, is hanging out with his head wife. I'm assuming this is the thing that he was telling Quinn about, the thing he came to Tree Hill for. He sort of broke down and this isn't a vacation. His wife died. Does Nathan know this? In hindsight, her being dead, is so great for the story. Much better than if she were alive and just came to try to patch up their relationship. A lot of the word choices are excellent when they're together. You realize it makes sense when you know the whole story.
I'm really hoping that next episode, things get back on track for Nathan. He and Haley have been through so much lately, it's really time for something for them.
