Stranger Things 4X1: Chapter One: The Hellfire Club

You guys. I have no idea what is going on with the monster stuff, but I finally learned where that Hellfire Club tee shirt comes from! This is a banner day for me!

Okay, so, we start back in 1979 and the original doctor is doing experiments on his subjects. While, he's working with 10, he says that six and their handler are screaming and now there's a bunch of blood. An alarm then goes off, and an explosion happens, knocking the scientist unconscious. When he wakes up, he wanders through the building finding pretty much everyone dead. Eventually, he finds a seriously pissed of El as one of the lone survivors. I really hope we end up getting more of this.

Then we cut to present day. El is writing a letter to Mike telling him how great life is right now. However, it's all a lie. She being bullied, not doing well in school, her powers still do not work, and Jonathan is high all the time.

Joyce is working at home selling encyclopedias over the phone, when she gets a package from Russia. She calls Murray and he suggests breaking it, in case there's a bomb in it. Turns out, there's a random style letter claiming that Hopper is still alive. (I KNEW IT!)

Mike, Dustin, and Lucas join the D&D club at school. (You know, The Hellfire Club). Lucas also joins the basketball team. Turns out the championship games for both are on the same night. So, they need to replace Lucas (who scores the winning goal) and they settle on Erica. Both the basketball game and D&D, win.

But, the head of the D&D group gets asked by the popular girl for drugs. She's hallucinating seeing her dead parents and ticking clocks. She just wants it to stop. He agrees to supply her with pot, however, she wants something stronger. They go to his trailer, and he offers her some Special K. However, she's stick in her own brain and is being tortured by some kind of monster. Back in the real world, D&D guy watches her levitate, then get pinned to the ceiling, and killed by whatever this monster is. I guess this is the new big bad this season.

Also, the music in this episode was great. I may have gotten a little into Detroit Rock City and potentially missed some stuff. 😳
