I was hoping that this was going to bring the character of David more into the story, but it turns out that we're losing both him and Michael! I hope it's not forever!
Anyway, David tells Michael at the beginning of this episode that he's going to Haiti to help with medical relief. After initially being shocked, Michael realizes that he wants to marry David, so he plans to propose. The day of the proposal, Michael shows up at the hospital to pick David up, but there is an explosion in the hospital.
David and his surgical team are in the middle of brain surgery, and not near the part of the hospital that is on fire, so they decide to continue with the surgery. However, the fire ends up getting more out of control and getting closer to the surgery room. The team again decides, to finish up the surgery.
Meanwhile outside, Michael is a nervous wreck knowing that David had a surgery scheduled he didn't evacuate with the rest of the people. He sends Bobby in after him. Bobby tells David it's time to go, and David says if they leave the patient dies. Bobby says he'll buy him ten minutes, and David tells him he needs 12. So, the firefighters make sure the fire doesn't breach the room, so David can save the patient. Right after, they all get out and David accepts Michael's proposal. (You know, the one that didn't actually happen because Bobby spilled the beans while trying to convince David to evacuate). And we find out that Michael is going with him to Haiti.
I knew that boy was alive! I feel like if we'd lost an entire room, it would have been a bigger spectacle. I assume part of this storyline was to prove that Claudette isn't an awful person, but I don't feel any differently about her.
