Okay, so, we get some actual, real life, Oliver and Felicity happiness! And he's about to propose (but in food, no thanks)! But just before this happens, Laurel and Thea show up asking for his help. We've got major problems in Starling City (which is now Star City), some 'ghosts' are stealing a bunch of weapons, but every time the team gets close to them, they kill themselves so we can't get any real answers. Plus, they've taken out all of the city leadership (although, there are not a lot of people left in the city because it's being overrun by crime) and they don't think they can solve this without Oliver.
He agrees to help, but when he gets to the cave, Diggle is not thrilled about working with him. He's still upset that Oliver didn't let him and Felicity in on the plan (oh, and you know, also that he kidnapped Lyla). But in order to save the city, he agrees to work with him. Felicity immediately gets to work and starts hacking into stuff. However, Oliver realizes that she's been working with the team the whole time they've been away and lying about it. She tells him she loves him and being with him, but their lives of him cooking and their friends are all very boring to her. She misses living a life where it feels like she's helping people and living a purposeful life.
We find out that the head bad guy is Damien Darhk (the nemesis of the previous Ra's) and he's just hell bent on destroying the city. Also, he's not a meta-human, but he's got some supernatural powers. He's able to kill people just by touching them. Um, also Quintin is working for him? What? I'm sorry, what fresh hell is this? This has to be somehow about protecting Laurel, right?
Oliver tells Felicity that he doesn't know if he can go back to being the Arrow. She tells him he can figure out how to be someone else. They decide to rejoin the team and move back to Star City, and Oliver wears a new suit and broadcasts to the city that he's the Green Arrow.
They end up moving into Thea's loft since she no longer wants to be there after Ra's tried to kill her in her home. Oliver slips the engagement ring into a bowl of glass beads. Why this is ridiculous. Is he trying to lose it? Or have her find it? What is the point of this?
Anyway, we end with six months later and find Oliver and Barry at a gravesite. We don't know who has died, but Oliver vows to get revenge for them.
This was a fun season opener. Was it was great as the end of S3? No. Was it fun and am I excited to keep watching? Absolutely.
