Okay, I was kind of confused this episode because we are back to historical politics. And I haven't really thought about them much since season 2. (I think it was two). So, I had to try to remember it all. But I think I had it mostly figured out by the end of the episode.
So, Jamie and Claire are in Wilmington for party arranged for Flora McDonald who helped Prince Charles (I think) do...something illegal. (I don't think that part's important.) But they are all here to show support for the crown remaining the ruling class in the America's. However, Jamie no long feels that way and has broken his oath.
He's joining up with the Liberty people to help the colonies rule themselves, apart from British government. He gets himself invited to one of their meetings, but they tell him he's not welcome because he protected a printmaker who was writing up Loyalist materials. Jamie gives a rousing speech about liberty and freedom and independence. Then, they ask if they can trust him and he tells him the soldiers are on their way to try to arrest them, so he saves them and it's all good.
Claire is still using ether to try to repress the 8 zillion horrible things that have happened to her since she ended up back in the 1700s. Something is gonna come to a head with that, but I don't know what yet.
Meanwhile, back on the Ridge, Roger is spending a lot of time with the mom who he promised to build a cabin for. People are starting to talk about it, and it's upsetting Brianna. Roger then walks in on Malva and one of the other people making out on the church floor. She tells him that if he tells anyone, she'll say she saw him kissing Amy and it doesn't matter if it's true or not people will believe it because of how much time they spend together.
And speaking of Malva, earlier in the episode some of the girls run into a love spells that uses human fingers. At the end of this episode, we see Malva gleefully sawing off a dead guy's (I'm pretty sure he was dead) fingers. There are a crazy amount of red flags with this one.
Oh, and there's another time traveler around! Flora had one of her stones stolen, and then later we see the thief being put in jail (although we don't actually see them) while humming a tune that doesn't exist yet.
