Stranger Things 3X6: Chapter Six: E Pluribus Unum

Okay, so we're at the point now, were we all sort of know of what's going on. I mean, we don't have all the same information, but we all know enough to know that shit is bad.

Joyce and Hopper are using Murray (I looked up his name) to translate for the Russian guy. After a crazy amount of back and forth and Hopper being a peak Hopper- the Russian escapes and then comes back. He finally tells them about the machine that is under the mall opening up the gate to the Upside Down. Hopper calls the government and then says they have to wait. Joyce is not having that. So she calls the government and tries to make it sound more urgent. Then, they all head back to Hawkins to try to save the kids.

Robin and Steve sacrifice themselves (not literally, they are alive, but captured), so Dustin and Erica can escape. They are beaten, drugged, tied up and interrogated. But it's not until they are just about to rip of Steve's fingernails, that Robin finally starts talking. They blather a bunch of stuff and just as Steve is talking about how the American cavalry will be coming, alarms start going off. It's Dustin and Erica to save the day! They burn some stuff with the green goo, and then cattle prod whoever is in their way.

Meanwhile, El uses her powers to try to find where the source of the Mind Flayer is. Eventually she finds Billy and tries to go into his mind. After wading through an awful childhood, she ends up at the Steel Mill. However, while doing this, Billy tells her that the Mind Flayer is now going to kill her and everyone she knows. She rips her blindfold off, terrified, and the collapses into Mike's arms.

At the mill, we see all of the people who were possessed by the Mind Flayer dissolving into goo and merging with it. It's gross and huge and totally going to be a problem. Especially now that it's gunning for El.

Oh, and the Terminator is pressuring the mayor to find Hopper. I'm not entirely sure what's going on there, but it was still a great scene. But that might be due to my love of the Gravitron.

I'm not gonna say that Mike has been perfect this season when it comes to the El and Max of it all but I'm really on his side in that whole fight with Max. Everyone in this season is doing reckless/dangerous things just assuming that El is gonna be there to bail them out of danger. I'm not saying that any of them have bad intentions but in some ways they are using El and her powers with no thought to how it affects El. When Nancy says that El knows her own limitations and can make her own decisions she's not wrong but what she doesn't realize is that El is a brave girl with a massive savior complex. It's been built into her and she's just very empathetic so she would do anything for the people she loves with no cares of whether or not it's gonna hurt her. Also she's like 14... she's a child!! As smart as she is I'm not even sure that she is completely aware of the effect it has on her. She may know whether or not something will kill her but she certainly doesn't know the inner effect it has on her brain. Mike is so right when he says that her using her powers could cause brain damage. I mean this was the 80s and I'm sure that knowledge about brain damage wasn't huge but It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know when someone has blood oozing from every orifice then it's probably doing some damage up there. I'm glad that El has someone like Mike who is trying to protect her and find another way to save the world without making El use her powers at every step. The Steve/Robin being high scenes are comedy gold!! I love them so much! lmao Hopper losing it on Alexei. Hopper saying his code name was "Antique Chariot" and then Joyce calling back and saying that she's Antique Chariot's partner "Wheelbarrow" πŸ˜‚ I really love every plotline in this episode. The scenes with Hopper are hilarious. The scenes with Nancy/Jonathan and Co. are tense/exciting and the cinematography in those scenes are off the charts. I was never a cinematography nerd until I watched this show and it made me one
