Stranger Things 3X4: Chapter Four: The Sauna Test

I really like this episode. I think part of it, is that everyone (minus Dustin) is back together and we aren't working separately anymore. (Also, why is Dustin so apart from everyone right now. I mean, I like his story, but I'm wondering if something else is going on).

So, the kids devise a plan to test if Billy is being controlled by the Mind Flayer. They stick him in a sauna hoping to exorcise him, the way Joyce did for Will. Well, it doesn't work. He's definitely being controlled, but they couldn't save him. Eleven ends up throwing him through a brick wall after he almost kills her, but he just leaves after that and goes back to the steel plant (or whatever that warehouse is).

Anyway, turns out, there are a bunch of people being mind controlled by the Mind Flayer, not just Billy and Heather. I'm not sure how many, as that ending scene was dark, but at least a couple dozen. I initially thought Billy was bringing Heather as a sacrifice to the Mind Flayer, but he's just bringing him another host. Also, I think one of them is the guy who fired Nancy and Jonathan, but I'm not sure. It would make sense though. He was a hot mess, and if he was being controlled he wouldn't want it to get out. Firing the reporter and photographer who are trying to uncover what is going on makes sense.

Back to the other group, Robin has paid a couple bucks to city hall to get the blueprints for the mall. They can't walk into the part of the building the Russians are protecting, but they can go in through the air ducts. The send ice cream sample girl in and she opens the door to Dustin, Steve, and Robin. They uncover some sort of mysterious green liquid. And tons of it. (Assuming all the boxes are the same). And then the floor drops out because apparently, we are in an elevator?!?

And Joyce and Hopper go to town on the mayor to find out who attacked Hopper. It was a thing of beauty. But there's no way that Hopper doesn't lose his job and end up in jail after this, right?

1) You were right. The dude who fired Nancy and Jonathan is Heather's Dad :) (2) All the actors get along really well. They're a really close knit group. It's very rare to find a cast especially one as big as this where there is no drama between the cast. The Stranger Things cast all are friends and get along really well. As to the reason that Dustin is so separated... there was some tension between Dustin and the group early on. Mike and El wanted to hang out alone. Will just wanted to play D&D. Lucas and Max didn't really believe that Dustin's girlfriend existed and then Dustin wanted to pursue this Russian lead and he felt abandoned by everyone so he went to Steve for help. From a writing standpoint, they started the hilarious dynamic between Steve and Dustin in S2 and I think they wanted to explore that more in S3.
