Friday Night Lights 4X6: Stay

Oh, I'm afraid this might be the last we see of Matt for awhile, which is sad. I like his character.

But he and Julie go to a music festival in Austin that both Tami and Eric have told her she can't go to. However, she really wants to do something nice for Matt and take his mind off his dad's death. Plus, she knows he stayed in Dillion for her and she's feeling guilty about it and wants to get him out of town for awhile.

Things go okay until he realizes that her parents don't know she's there. They argue about it, but quickly make up. Later at one of the concerts, Matt asks her if she wants him to go. She says no, and that she love him. But it seems like they both know their days are numbered.

When they get back, they talk in the car. They both seem to know this is good bye but neither of them is saying it. They say, I love you to each other, but Julie is crying. She knows. Once she gets in the house, Tami is ready to yell at her, but sees Julie is upset and asks what happened. Julie admits she thinks Matt is leaving.

And then we see him parked in front of his house. His mom and grandma are getting along extremely well and I assume he feels like now is the best time. He takes off without saying goodbye to anyone, but he looks happy as he drives away.

In other news: Tim and Lyla are back together for the week. They clearly love each other, but want different things out of life. It's sad because I really like them together, but I get it. The stupid assistant coach guarantees a win in a TV interview, against an undefeated team. (Not to mention the Lions still haven't won a game). They do not win. But they do well. Vince emerges as a quarterback, and they keep the other team down to 14 points (I think), which is great for such a high scoring team. We're starting to come together as a team. I love that they just are unrealistically beating every team. But we are making some, incremental progress.
