One Tree Hill 6X7: Messin' With the Kid

I did not really enjoy this episode. I love Lucas and Peyton, but this was just stupid and ridiculous. At the end, Peyton was all, I had fun playing around with you, but I didn't feel that. And I didn't have fun watching it.

Also, I do not care about Owen the bartender wanting back in Brooke's life. (Can someone tell me if he was also a Slam Ball guy? I'm 100% sure he was talking to Nathan when he went to watch a game, but why is no one talking about this? Am I wrong?)

I hate that Gigi is back and so not understand Mouth's boundaries. But why doesn't Mouth tell Milly about her? I swear to god, if Mouth cheats on Milly, I will lose my fucking shit. Milly must be protected at all costs.

However, there was definitely stuff I like in this episode. Loved the Brooke and Sam stuff. I think this is going to be beneficial for both of them in the end. And Brooke is going to fall apart when Sam finally leaves.

I mean, is there anything better than Nathan showing up at school and convincing all the kids that capes are cool? No, no there is not.

And again, credit where credit is due. Thank you, Dan (have I ever said that on this show?) for putting that asshole mom in her place.

Yes....Grace Potter is an actual artist whose music has been featured on OTH a lot over the seasons. She has an amazing voice, and her stuff is very OTH like for the show. And yep...Nathan tends to find aggressive an assertive Haley very sexy indeed, hehe. Always has from the very beginning, lol. But it's a nice reminder of that fact to continue to get it all these years later, lol. And I think the character of Owen was supposed to sort of be like a jack of all trades kinda guy. He was a bit older than everybody else, so he brought a little bit of a wiser outlook to the gang, and so it worked and was kinda fitting that he was not only a bartender, but also a Slamball player as well. I think he was sort of supposed to be involved in lots of things that we really didn't know about.

Melissa

Grace Potter is a thing, I guess. I assumed she was someone but I had no idea who. This is not the first time Nathan has been turned on by aggressive Haley. Lol. And while I shouldn't find him thinking sexy a good thing, I totally do. 😳 Nathan with those capes for the whole class was amazing! Right? Seriously, Naley and Jamie and Claire are battling it out for OTP right now. I don't know why it was so difficult for me to get my head around the fact that Owen could be both a bartender and play SlamBall. 🙄

Ooh, that's fun. I love those inside meta things! I agree minus the hair. I LOVE her curls so much. They are totally stretching them out this season (but as a curly haired girl, I know how much easier it is not to be curly). But her outfits and makeup are on point right now. Ah, didn't pick up on that. I can 100% forgive that. I forgot he's been caning it right now. (Also, I promise, I'm not one of those people who are pissed off at people who don't 'look' handicapped. I'm just generally pissed at Dan in overall. 😳

Dana Licciardello

'Everybody says we are like twins' line from Lucas is a meta joke because the fanbase at the time was arguing about their chemistry being more like brother and sister than destined lovers. Also have to say, IMO, S6 Peyton is the best she ever looked. edit: Dan parking in the handicap area, not that is besides him to park there anyway, I think its just his leg not being recovered, so attention to details on production.

This was the perfect episode to showcase not only Naley's individual relationship with their son, but their family dynamic as well, on top of what an amazing couple Naley are together and it just makes for the best dynamic on this show!!! First, we got to see both Nathan and Haley following their individual passions and dreams of playing basketball and singing. Love the 3 of them together on the Slamball court and Haley so happy to see Nathan playing again, and in return both Nathan and Jamie encouraging Haley to get back to her music......melts my heart every time. And Joy getting to sing with Grace Potter was such a cool bonus....yay!!!! Then we got to see how they both handled and dealt with Jamie being bullied, first together as a family, then each with their own approach, and Nathan being so turned on by his badass wife is golden for sure, lol. The JL's lit up the screen in that moment in the kitchen, hehe. And then Nathan saving the day with the dunks and the box full of capes, was priceless and pretty swoon worthy. Their family moment together tucking in Jamie never gets old to watch, and Naley ending the day all cuddled on the couch together with Haley asking Nathan if he needed a sidekick, lol, and the two of them closer than ever was the perfect way to cap off the day. Gosh they make such a stunning pair....I could stare at them all day long. Their chemistry just radiates right off the screen!!!! And yay for Dan/Jamie again. They are always great and funny together and Dan telling Jamie how great his dad is will never get old to hear, hehe. But Dan intimidating Chucks mom with the murder comment was priceless, lol. Loved it to pieces!!! And yes.... Owen plays Slamball for The Slashers, and he wants Nathan to come and play with him....so stay tuned, hehe.

Whole heartedly agree. I generally cringe at kids on TV in general. And this is one of the very few kids on TV that I don't get annoyed with when they show up on screen. I think it helps that Naley are really present parents and care about Jamie before anything else.

Dana Licciardello

I still ship them. But I HATED them in this episode. I'm hopeful that we get a return the Lucas and Payton I feel in love with in S1.

Dana Licciardello

Never apologize for having an opinion! I'm the poster child of 'I hate this episode, but on multiple re-watches, 'oops, it's my favorite.' Lol. (I know that punctuation is wrong). Yes! Nathan being turned on my Haley's aggression and protection of Jamie is 100% amazing. Totally agree on Dan. I hate to say it, but credit where credit is due, right?

Dana Licciardello

Nathan and Haley are such good parents. I love both of their individual relationships with him. He is so much like both of them. Definitely my favorite parent/child relationship on the show and on tv in general.

Sabrina

Lucas and Peyton use to have chemistry in season 1 but they are so cringe and forced now. I did not enjoy their silly storyline. They are so boring.

Sabrina

This episode always makes me feel good... I truly think James would be a perfect choice for the role of Superman :) And I love the comedy with Lucas & Peyton. To me, it was fun to watch 22yo people messing around like 22yo people. This show already has a lot of plots that aren't suitable for very young adults... And I love the fact that they turned this thing of moving in together into a game. The bed scene is also gold.

Alex

I'm sorry but I adore this episode. One of my favorites of this whole show. Peyton and Lucas' whole plot is comedy gold and you can tell that Hilarie and Chad were having a lot of fun with it. Nathan and Haley are just perfection and so funny too. I melt when Nathan called her a badass. Nathan and Haley being the best parents ever. Nathan playing slamball... James is always hot but there's just something him playing slamball that is just next level. Brooke and Sam's plotline is delightful. I even like Dan in this episode which is a rare thing for me. When he says he has to go see his parole officer and then just says "murder" to the bitchy mom lmao. Dan is crazy but at least he's funny in this episode. The episode really hit all the comedic notes perfectly. The music was great and got me into the vibe of the scenes.
