The Vampire Diaries 1X7: Haunted

I'm guessing we can't just compel people to do anything, right? Like, it would be so easy to just say, 'You want to invite me into your home,' or 'You you love when I feed on you,' or 'You will always find me more pleasurable than my brother,' or whatever. (That last one was for Damon, by the way). But it's early days of this show and there is still so much more to learn.

And of course, Vicki was someone whose name I remembered, so we had to kill her off. And speaking of killing her off and not knowing all the rules yet, you can kill a vampire in this universe by stabbing them? Was this sword made of something special? Or was it that Vicki was still a newly turned vampire so she was easier to kill? Or something else entirely? (Only tell me if I should actually know, not if it's something that I'll learn later, please). Also, that bite she took out of Elena looked like she needed a transfusion. But vampire bites on TV, am I right?

As much as I don't love Damon, I really liked that scene between him and who I think was Caroline mom's (correct me if I'm wrong please, because I should actually know that. Lol). He was actually really charming and I can totally see now, why people would fall for him. But I also really liked the info we got out of that conversation. I'm really looking forward to seeing how that plays out. It seems like a good portion of people know that vampires are back and they are trying to take precaution against them. Damon was already ruled out as a vampire, because he came to that party during the day. I guess the committee people know about vampire hunting watches, but not sun blocking rings.

Super curious about Bonnie and her witch stuff right now. It looks like her family and the Salvatores ended up in Mystic Falls around the same time. I wonder if we're setting up some kind of family rivalry between them. Damon was upset that Bonnie had his necklace and tried to take it off her, but it burned his hand in the process. She ran to grandma, and grandma said it belonged a super powerful witch in their family a zillion years ago. Interesting.

Why is Damon doing nice things for Elena? First he tells her to get away before he eats her because she's bleeding, and later he offers to compel Jeremy because Stefan isn't strong enough to do it. Also, it seems like as much as Elena doesn't want to be dating a vampire, it seems she can't help how she feels about him. It looks like they are inching back towards each other.
