9-1-1 3X14: The Taking of Dispatch 9-1-1

I'm a little afraid this is a fan favorite, that I am going to get some flack for not enjoying that much.

I assume this was a take on The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, which I've never seen. I'm not much of a movie person, let alone a heist movie person. I'm sure there was a ton of stuff that went over my head that made it better, but I have no idea what it was.

Anyway, 9-1-1 gets taken over by a bunch of fake cops (one of which is the guy who beat up Josh on his online date) in order to make sure that 9-1-1 does not route any police or emergency services near the museum (gallery?) where they are stealing a bunch of art. (How are they going to sell this art? It's obviously stolen).

However, Chim does seem concerned about Maddie's message from the previous episode and tries to look into it, but he can't get through to 9-1-1. Eventually, Athena goes down to check it out. They plan to have the fake security guard shoot her, but Maddie's boss sends her away with a 77. Athena leaves, but knows there a problem. 77 is code for hostile takeover (or something like that).

With no idea that anyone is coming to save them, the 9-1-1 operators come up with a plan of their own. One of them fakes an allergic reaction, and Maddie stabs the capture with the Epi-pen instead of her. This causes chaos, and they are able to take down some of the other guys. As the rest go to escape, Athena and a bunch of cops are waiting for them.

Also, Maddie and Josh determined to save the guy that's holding them hostage, was the best part (minus Maddie and Chim).

There's a whole ending about how the driver was the mastermind and all because her dad got screwed over, but honestly I didn't really care. I was just happy that Maddie and Chim were reunited.

I'm sorry if this is your favorite episode. It was not mine. I did try to enjoy it for what it was though.

idk if i would call this a fan favorite but it’s definitely highly rated but i agree, this episode and ocean’s 9-1-1 from s2 don’t really do much for me. they’re okay but ones i don’t actively rewatch. i will always prefer the episodes with a little more heart and fun than these mystery/action ones. my favorite scene was buck driving past athena/chim and his “okay now don’t be mad” when she pulled him over. i always have a little giggle over how he says it. well that and the madney hug at the end. best parts of this episode.
