I just want to point out that I said this episode couldn't have been more than 10 years old. Turns out, it's 16. Whoops. I still think my point stands though, that we shouldn't still be doing this.
This was not my favorite episode. I see what they were going for, but I'm not entirely sure why we did it. Racism hasn't really seemed to be an issue at all up until now. But now, in this one episode, it's happening with everyone? I don't want to be overly negative, but this plot seems to have come out of nowhere.
Does Santiago's friend play this character all the time? I recognized him from Veronica Mars, where they try to make him a similar character (except he's got some heart in that show). Is it the tattoos?
Also, Carlotta seems to be leaving. I didn't see that coming. That seems to be coming out of nowhere as well. But apparently, there are only 15 episodes in this season, so we are coming up on the finish line.
Things I liked about this episode: Buddy and Santiago. I really liked Buddy struggling with how to deal with this. I've been in a similar situation. Where you want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but know exactly know how to handle it. I really like the end scene where Buddy goes to tend to Santiago's wounds.
I also really enjoyed Lyla doing this Christian talk show thing. It seemed to suit her and, like her cohost said, she's good at it! Not sure how I feel about Tim showing up with flowers for her though. Jury's still out there.
Lastly, I like the thought process of Eric while he was trying to figure out how to deal with daycare.
But, we got, like, zero football! Give me football you cowards!
