Outlander 1X7: The Wedding
Added 2024-04-08 21:45:01 +0000 UTCI'm just going to apologize. This was just a lot of swoony nonsense from me. But this episode was exactly what I wanted.
Jamie was incredible in this episode. (Not that Claire wasn't, but Jamie just stood out in particular). I love that he doesn't care if Claire is sort of in charge. He doesn't really see a woman has having a particular lot.
Can all the episodes be this swoony with the two of them, please?

2024-05-05 04:56:29 +0000 UTCI either need to read less (I've read maybe 9 books since I finished this one, and so many of the details of this are getting fuzzy now- I have some really distinct images of some things that I know are coming, but a lot of things are already gone, sigh) or just try to enjoy the show for what it is try not to compare it to the book. Lol. I cannot handle Jamie. Yes! I loved all the backstory about how he would only agree to the marriage if it was real and he could make sure Claire was as happy as possible. It's so easy to say, 'Screw Frank, Jamie is right here, and he's Jamie!' for me on the outside, but if I were actually in Claire's position, this would be difficult. But that said, I love that they really seemed to take the time they needed to get to know each other as much as possible before consummating the marriage. I really loved that montage of them eating, drinking, and talking.

It starts with Claire and Jamie being far from romantically involved, but through the course of the epi they learn about each other on a whole new level, and make a connection that is rare and special. Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. β€οΈ I loved watching Jamie here. Heβs on full display and not just his looks, (π) but his kind and protective soul. His treatment of Claire and their marriage in this episode solidifies all the various impressions that have been shown in bits and pieces so far: Jamieβs gallant, respectful, considerate, committed, devoted, and honorable. (Just to name a few.) The marriage might have been arranged for legal purposes, but for Jamie, itβs real. His gestures were very romantic. Ah, Claire. While her hesitancy and confliction weren't romantic they certainly made sense. She's definitely at a crossroads. Her guilt is evident. She still desperately wants to get back to the stones to return to Frank and she still thinks that's a possibility, so for her that marriage is still real despite the semantics of it all. BUT sheβs also developing strong feelings for Jamie. As for Dougal, this isn't the first time he's has been inappropriate with Claire. She had to defend herself from him when he attacked her on the night she was trying to leave. All of the Dougal stuff is in the book. Your questions regarding why Dougal didn't marry Claire and why he was so adamant about Jamie doing so, will be answered in the show. A lot of the "why" hasn't happened yet at this point in the book.
