One Tree Hill 3X16: With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept

I talked for half an hour when this episode was over. I don't even know what to write here.

Agreed. Also, they really allowed for the quiet moments, which really increased the tension, I think.

I'm so sorry you had to endure 30 minutes of me going, 'How could this happen? Well, it didn't happen, that's how.' Lol. Yeah, it feels shitty to be mad at a kid who is this upset in life that he thinks this is his best option, but also, his struggles are not that different from most kids in that school, and they didn't show up with a gun. Also, at this point in time, I could imagine that a lot of people who probably needed medication and therapy weren't getting it. I'm hoping they get these kids some grief counselors. I know. It's sad that this could have aired this week on (insert popular current show here) and be just as relevant.

I'm so glad. I hate when that happens, too. Especially, I feel like in the early 2000s a lot of shows were still doing 'a very special episode.'

I didn't know I needed tissue!

I'm so happy to hear that. I hate when we have events like this and they talk about it for an episode or two and then forget about it.

I was waiting for you to get to this episode lol! I’ve always loved the writing in this episode. The writers did a great job at capturing the emotions and feelings of the characters!

What a cliffhanger! I enjoyed watching you process what exactly happened at the end with Keith and Dan. "I can't think of a single way this can't be real, but HOW could it be real?" I watched until the end. To me it's all part of the reaction. 😊 As far as sympathizing with Jimmy, I think most people fall in the middle. On some level you understand how he can get to this point, but also understand that there is absolutely no justification for his actions. Just because most of us could get past the "typical" high school issues, not everyone handles things the same (even if it seems extreme), but what he did was wrong no matter the reason. I do think we were suppose to be somewhat sympathetic to Jimmy, the shooter. I think back then they were attempting to explain and trying to make sense of how something like this could happen. He's a child, killing another child. How? Why? Mental health and psychological problems and how it relates to high school traumas such as bullying and social rejection were hot topics in this debate (and still is) and I imagine this was the reason why this was a focal point with Jimmy. Given the prevalence of school shootings in recent years and the more complex risk factors, especially the availability of guns and accessibility of social media, sadly not much has changed regarding this issue and still makes this episode relevant after 20 years. The actor who plays Jimmy Edwards was amazing in this episode! Yes, this episode is in sequential order.

The best thing about this episode is its ramifications are truly felt for the rest of the series and the audience/characters never forget it. I hate when shows do something like this and everyone just forgets it happened a few episodes later. This event changes the show just like it would change the worlds of people who really experience something this horrific.

THE EPISODE. This episode is one of the best episodes of the entire series in my opinion (for me I considered to be within the Top 3 best episodes of the series). This episode understandably changes the dynamic of the show going forward and how could it not.
