The director Don Bluth had the philosophy that kids could handle anything bad or scary, as long as you attach a happy ending to it. That philosophy created Land Before Time, An American Tail, The Secret of Nimh, Balto, Anastasia, All Dogs Go to Heaven. He worked for Disney for a while and contributed to Sleeping Beauty, Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too, The Rescuers, Pete's Dragon, and the Fox and the Hound. Then he split off from Disney and formed his own studio which was a major Disney competitor before the Disney Renaissance of the 1990's. He's 88 years old and still working in animation.

Them coming back to him meant something and when Sara woke up to being alone, that's the big moment of she needs others too.

Appreciated the first last on but 2-6 were always my favorite with 5 being my most favorite. It's a lot more fun and light hearted but I'd love to see more as most people only do the first film

2025-08-25 15:25:02 +0000 UTCThis was one of my favorite movies growing up. This movie, along with The Lion King, Bambi, and All Dogs Go To Heaven, introduced me to mature topics. You should check out Bambi, Bambi 2, and All Dogs Go To Heaven. All Dogs Go to Heaven is also a Don Bluth film.
