May Progress Post

Completed Projects
The only completed project I finished in April is the Phoenix Wright Patreon Commission. You can find it here!

Ongoing Projects
I’m still working on my entry for the One Piece Newgrounds collab I’m participating in. I finished the beach scene of the animation and moving into the Build A Bear Workshop section of the animation. I also trying something different animate a huge chunk of the animation using FK limbs for the arms. I read an article that said animating arms in FK is generally better than animating in IK since creating curve paths is much easier than creating these paths in IK. The only time to animate in IK is if you’re character is apply pressure or holding an object. I gotta say that because I started animating these limbs in FK, I can do swinging motions a lot better compared to IK. As for the actual animation, I would say I’m 75% done with it and should be wrapping it up this week if not the next.

Another animation I’m getting ready to wrap up is Gohanverse Episode 1. Right now, I’m animating the fight scenes in Episode 1 which has been extremely fun. A lot of the techniques I used in the Nekopara animation I’m using in full force for Episode 1. I also been sharing progress of the animation on Twitter and YouTube and the reception been positive. Like the One-Piece animation, I’m at the 75% mark for this video and should be finished by next week.

I also begun work on the next Blender animation. I decided that the next Blender animation will be a “It Came from Twitter.” After surfing on Twitter, I found a Tweet in which Woolie tried to convert one person from the RWBY team to watch JoJo. I thought it would be funny if for the animation to have Speedwagon convert a person to watching JoJo instead of using some random TF2 character. Another interesting thing I’m doing for this animation is the use of Vroid. For those who don’t know Vroid is a freeware program in which you can create your own anime avatar. I read a guide on how to port Vroid models to Blender which was surprisingly easy. However, the clothing option for male characters has been limited at the time of the post. But I see a huge potential for this program to create non-specific anime characters for future Blender animations.

As for Patreon projects, I’m gonna be working on Lord’s RWBY animation and Kevy’s Saber animation. I thought I need to convert some of the RWBY XPS models to SFM, but I remembered the Blake model I used in a few of my RWBY animations were obtained from SFM Labs. Regardless, a tiny bit of work needs to be done on the Blake model since the model has pale white skin. Not to mention I must collect the voicelines for the project. As for Kevy’s animation, I just got the voicelines and will begin work on it as soon as possible.

Sorry for the lack of progress for this month, but I’ve been really focused on getting the One Piece and Gohanverse episode to look amazing. Anyway, with that said, thanks for reading!
