BTS Vlog: Swiss Bunkers

Hey Newsroomers. For this month's vlog, we wanted to give you a little sneak peak into a video we have coming up soon that we're really excited about. Hope this preview gets you hyped for the video - lots of beautiful footage in this one thanks to my drone son.

Comments

Huge fan of your work, you have inspired me to completely transform my content and how I approach new projects. I did have a quick question regarding your drone shots, do you need a license to fly your drones in certain areas/countries or do you just look up their drone laws ahead of time?

Cody McDowell

I'm so happy that I joined your Patreon! You're amaizing as a team! Great journalism Love this episode and all of your videos and after watching it I want to visit Switzerland! The sneacker at 1:33 :)

Harris Ananiadis

If you ever come back to Switzerland for another bunker story contact me. I serve in civil defense here. My main job is to maintain civil defense shelters/bunkers. They are designed do shield against chemical, nuclear and conventional weapons. I also do inspections for countless private shelters (the ones that are in people's basements).

Using wood for heating serves several purposes; A) it's cozy, B) given a modern fireplace it's pretty darn effective, and with electricity being prized as it is now it might actually be the more cost efficient alternative, and C) it's mostly carbon neutral given a sustainable foresting practice.

Torkild Dyvik Olsen

Excited! you work so hard for us!

Kevin Liu

it really is a magical place.

Johnny Harris

thank you, it is a journey every time, but luckily one I really love.

Johnny Harris

ohhhhh I can rant! I'll think on this a bit!

Johnny Harris

hahaha so glad it gave you a laugh, I couldn't help myself!

Johnny Harris

wow I love this even more than I thought I would!!

Johnny Harris

it really is, and essential to keep in mind!

Johnny Harris

so glad you enjoyed it!

Johnny Harris

I'm so happy you're so happy about it!

Johnny Harris

you and me BOTH

Johnny Harris

this is a sneak peek! video comes out in December. It's a BIG one.

Johnny Harris

this makes me so happy! and it is so true - it is a constant struggle.

Johnny Harris

absolute necessity so I can backup files, if I don't have that then I'll use a couple ssd's but I prefer to get them on the cloud ASAP

Johnny Harris

I feel the same

Tlaloc Lopez-Watermann

I love these videos. When you get back to the hotel and the work begins, is internet a necessity or no?

Tlaloc Lopez-Watermann

"There's a gravitational pull to make stories bad, and the only way to make them good is to push back." That quote really hit me! Because it's SO true. You have to keep on pushing and rewriting and killing your darlings to make a story work. I'm gonna put the quote on a sticky note and hang on my monitor. :)

The Gaze

has the video already come out?

Kevin Liu

I think this is true for most European nordic countries - I'm from Lithuania and we do this too.

Lauryna Šidlauskaitė

Eye on the door scared the s out of me I replayed and it still did lol.

Game of Life

Really neat to see behind the scenes!

David Mora

I'm so happy I joined your Patreon!

Colin

How about $8 here and $8 for Twitter Blue?

Santiago Valdarrama del Pino

Better $8 here than for Twitter Blue lol

Justin Case

This was 100% worth our $8. So happy to support you. Your journalism is definitely the best out there and believe how you’re doing this, is the future!

Justin Case

Thanks for this fascinating look at what goes into making your videos. Also, more destinations to add to my must-visit travel list! I know how you feel about taking "this photo", but I too want to be part of the club. As for the stacked wood, I suppose it's good to have that backup. Sadly, we've seen this year that energy is not something that can be taken for granted

Sam Vu

Loving the BTS videos! You're line about the gravitational pull for stories to be bad is 100% true!

Rick Brewer

Hey Johnny I'm from Switzerland and when I was a child me and my brother always had to stack wood with our grandfather and it is definetly not essential to do that but I think it has to do with the cozy feeling. Also almost every chalet has a fireplace inside. But until this day I never questioned why we are still doing this.

Sandro Schmocker

STACKED WOOD

Paul Carleton

Whoa, the mushroom is pretty much opposite of Super Mario, no powerup at all... Also the "crappy" drone that you used takes incredible shots, held up pretty well! I laughed out loud when I saw you trolling down scared Porsches up above. This video has given me so much inspiration to get out there and view the world, Thanks again Johnny!

Christopher Pickett

Pushing against letting the story turn bad was an interesting take. Would love to hear you rant about work ethic, discipline, and motivation. How have you increased your capacity to keep on pushing?

Patric Tarnhamn

Rewriting scripts after a day-long shoot. Going into shady bunkers. Incredibly inspiring to see the amount of work that goes into a YouTube video.

Suraj Devaraj

Every time you're in Switzerland it makes me want to go to Switzerland

Evan Freeze

Waited for this ever since the end of the Swiss neutrality video when you said you'll explore the bunkers one day. Very excited for the Video. All those GPUs at time frame 14:45. I remember you talking about a company offering secure servers in those bunkers
