Greetings,
today a bit earlier on this Sunday as usual. This will be again a somewhat more lengthy post. First note, animations work and lewd sound kinda works... More on that below. This week went okay I think. Had a few hick-ups that throw me a bit back, but nothing to dramatic. Pretty soon one of my colleagues goes on a longer holiday which probably will cause more real life work for me. Therefore I'm even more determined to try to finish the main content as soon as possible.
Progress
I'm fairly sure I'll finish this update in the next month but don't hold me to any release dates. I hope sooner than later. I won't ever promise on something like this in case something comes in between. However, I'm halfway through the lewd-scene and the left scenes are pretty small. The left scripting won't be much of a big deal, but the sounds and music design is a bit bothering me.
Music
I have quite a lot of sketches but haven't really finished tracks yet. And I want to have some more variation in the next update but they may won't make the cut for the first build for the high tier patreons but will be featured in the final release.
Animations
I got the animation rendering working with some workarounds but they are practical at least. I finished rendering 3 animations. The fourth has a few out of focus frames that I need to re-render. And the fifth is currently rendering. However, I would have had more if I hadn't had a few fuck-ups in between. I had to redo 2 animations because in one the size of the nipples kept changing and in the other the hand was a bit sliding and the camera went a bit out of focus. Sadly I didn't noticed this issues while previewing the animations which costs me quite a lot of time.
Sound
I started creating loops of lewd sounds for the animations. I wanted to create 2 different sound loops for each animation. One is rendered in the animation that needs to be in sync with the video. For example the clapping sounds of cheeks should be in sync. The second loop would consist of moans and can be a much longer loop to be less repetitive and it doesn't even really have to be in sync with the video. This makes me more flexible while keeping the render heavy animations rather short for now.
Anyway, this comes with something special and causes some troubles. Because I allow players to change the speed of animations dynamically this also changes speed of the sound naturally. Playing the video faster causes a higher pitch and visa-versa a lower playback speed a lower pitch. For the clapping sounds this is actually kinda nice.
However, as nice as this sounds Unity causes some problems. It appears Unity has problems decoding and rendering the sound in combination with memory management in time. This causes stuttering when changing speed and keeps present in lower playback speed and it gets even out of sync, again most noticeable in lower playback speed.
I'm trying to figure out a workaround to keep both features. My first consideration is to not allow slowdowns as this causes the most problems. The other option is to use a third party library / package for video playback. There are some in the Unity store but I need to somehow evaluate if they are worth their price. I haven't found a considerable free package yet, but I'll try to implement something of my own at first anyway.
Mhmm, I feel like I wanted to talk about something else too... Anyway, on the next progress update then.
