[Episode Deneb] Release

Greetings,

it's finally done. Took way longer than I expected it to be, especially on the last few bits, but here it is and I hope you can enjoy the new content. I just want to mention I had too change quite a lot in back-end and hope I didn't break anything while doing so. So please let me know if you encounter any problems. Another little down-side, I didn't manage to add the music to the free-roam mode and to the older chapter. I'll try to put them in a new build sometime next week.

Story Content

The new update will start a bit slower and will focus on trying to solve their situation with the available tools they have and most important Selene and MC will spent more time together, get know each other more and get closer. Also, there will be more background stories of Selene, MC and his companions. 

However, this episode is setup to have a build-up and I promise this episode will have a climax and an interesting ending.

The length of this episode should be similar to the previous one.

Translations and character configuration

Yet again I had to do some adjustments on the language handling and the character configuration. Sadly this won't be the last time I guess. However, I always try to migrate old save and config files so you can jump in without any hiccups. At least I hope so.

For the moment, the release comes with default language files. English and the English with indicating taboo content. Same goes for the character config. There is a default and a default taboo indicating version. However, at the moment there is no taboo content, but the characters are already introduced, or spoken about and I want the player to be able to choose which road they are on.

Therefore, I encourage you to take a quick look at the settings and chose which language configuration you want to use and which character configuration you want to use or adjust.

More In-depth on the relation handling

I'm having a hard time describing what I wanted to achieve with the character configuration, why it fails and how I'm trying to solve it.

I want players to have the option to setup the relations between characters. That's why I added the quite complex character-configuration. However, the more I write the more I realized the character configuration won't ever be enough to make the dialogue work in a natural way for different kinds of character relations. That's why I decided to pull the relation between characters back into the dialogue itself, which means at the moment the relation settings for the characters is only used for the old chapters where it still works at the moment.

In the new update is a bit more dialogue about the character relations and like I said the character configuration couldn't cover it. So I made a custom language file that only contains the lines where relations between characters are mentioned. The other lines will be taken from a fallback that can be set in the language file or as last fallback it looks at the default English language file.

This should make it easy to setup other kind's of character relations and should be easily maintainable in the future.

However, as there is currently no actual taboo content either way, I'm releasing the taboo indicating language files and character configurations with the regular builds for now. This will probably change in the future when there is potentially actual taboo content.

I know this is still quite complicated and I'm looking for ways to make it better and more user-friendly.
