It seemed like people were interested in my (extremely amateur) chatter about using 3D models in Clip Studio, so I wanted to share something fun from Chapter 6 / page 2.
I, personally, am not good at drawing machines! Some people don't like drawing horses; I don't like drawing cars! 😭 It's not fun for me!!!! So I was delighted when I poked around the Clip Studio Asset catalog and found someone selling a variety set of boxy car shapes. ("Car Rough Set" by user 'yubikitax,' if you want to look it up.)
You can actually find a LOT of 3D car models in the asset catalogue- many are free to download! Lots have articulated parts or lots of detail! I was really happy to find low-poly models because they have a generalization of detail but nothing too specific. They're a good base for proportions but are otherwise featureless, so it was easy for me to project something more specific onto it. (In this case, I think it was a late 2010s Buick? Possibly a Firebird? I wanted a masculine American-made car. Not that you can see much of the car at all lol.)
The set of 5 cars was 150G (Clip Studio currency), which is approximately $1.50 USD. I've gone on to .... spend a lot more on 3D models.
If there's interest I'd be cool to talk about this stuff more as the comic moves forward! I can show off more of the weird stuff in my library haha
