Weekly Inquiry 133: Your taste in shift

For this week’s inquiry I have one of those cyclical questions that are both fun to think about and may help me to gather important data…!
In my opinion, the whole TF genre can be categorized in four big subgenres that mix and intertwine to create the infinite branches of the TFandom bush.
You have so called animal TF, which would go from furry, to were, to the simple full feral transformations.
TG, which is all changes related the gender and sex.
Inanimate, which are transformation into objects and such, including things like statues, robots or furniture.
And last, but not least, Body-modification, things like changes in size, weight, ethnicity, mental shenanigans or fusions… This one may be the most “controversial”, because the connection is not as easy to see, but we all know there’s not much difference between inflating into a blueberry or turning into a blueberry.
As any other genres and subgenres in any artistic realm these classifications are more of blurry lines than strict definitions, it is not rare for them to merge… but my question is… what’s your favorite?

2021-08-17 17:01:18 +0000 UTCIt's hard to separate gender bending from body mods, partial gender bends are mostly just body mods. Plus hermaphrodites are ever popular. I do agree that gender TFs seem only second to boob expansions, and that's by a hair. Inanimate TFs seems to have the largest range of changes, anything from becoming panties to getting Medusa'd would fit here IMO. What would you classify mental changes/mind absorption?

2021-08-17 05:47:45 +0000 UTCI categorize them separately because TG is probably the biggest TF genre by it’s own and also because you can have body-mod TFs without TG and TG TFs without body-mod. Depending on the type of inanimate and where you think the line blurs, ASFR TFs are very popular, but objectification TFs not that much. XP

2021-08-17 00:55:19 +0000 UTCI think that gender changes and body mods are the same category, similar to how animal TFs are that huge range you mentioned. Inanimate TFs are my favorite and what I like to make as well, but it definitely feels like the least popular.
