Monster Types Poll

I'm currently still planning out a few things for my newest series, and wanted some opinions on the types of monsters in which my new Dungeon Core should have access.  This could change or expand in the future, but as a starting group of monsters, what do you think it should be? (Granted, you don't know the story yet, but I just wanted to see if there was a general consensus of potential monsters you might want to see -- no matter the story)

with your talent I think you would pull off a great read I would look forward to watching the storyline progressing every Friday

I can see that being an exciting dungeon!

On the Dragon note I would like to see a dungeon that starts with lizards say starting with the The Gila monster: a species of venomous lizard moving up to the Komodo Dragons before moving into the realm of flying Dragons starting with the Wyvern and then Dragons with the cream of the crop being the imperial Dragon of China. Just a thought I will read it regardless if it is in the usual flair of writing as before

The technology/magic idea is what I'm trying to accomplish with Dimensional Dungeon Cores, but I had thought of perhaps looking into the idea for a future series where the two combine :)

So I had chosen beasts as I thought they where a most basic option, but then I read the comments here. And I can say I can see a lot of Anton’s points and agree with a lot of them. My own choice might not be that interesting even if it’s the expected one. And that’s the whole point of a good story, to defy expectations and keep the readers entertained, so I don’t really know what a good choice would be, or if it really matters as much as the background story. The important thing is if it compliments the story or if it’s just a crutch or even a crippling hindrance. The story is what made the core and crafting and even the holiday dungeons so interesting, not the monsters they started with. That said, I think there’s another category no one is mentioning, think of an inverse situation, where you have intelligent people making a dungeon against other monsters. If they have to bait in monsters (maybe they are more intelligent as well) or otherwise have some more dungeon related reasons for not just building up a fortress (again story is key I think) to kill or keep out everything dangerous. Like maybe a research station where what they want to study is too dangerous or maybe even magical to otherwise get close to. There must be many other ways to go about a concept where it’s dungeon based, but intelligents vs others outside (that’s not just a regular war zone story), maybe even the few against unimaginable odds could work by them building up there own dungeon so to speak. But I guess that’s starting to sound like core construction. Oh yeah, I guess another category would also be golems/robotics weather purely magical or technological in nature, or maybe even better, a combination of the two. I definitely don’t think there’s enough stories out there about what a modern or futuristic society with magic would look like. It’s as if everyone believes or expects technology and magic to be always be mutually exclusive somehow and I hate that there’s not more out there. There’s so much potential would building that could be done. From what if the technology came first then magic, or the other way around. Or the combination of the two allow for some truly god like abilities or just amazing fantastical wonders everywhere you go as the normal in a society, letting them actual engineer and manipulate the world around them on galactic or multidimensional levels.
