Today at work

Plan for today was to play Hype The Time Quest, an old Playmobil game that looks pretty fascinating.

Issue is, I tried playing this a month ago, but was unable to get it running. The PC ISO I was using (with permission from Shigeru Miyamoto) would not run on VMWare, Oracle Virtual Box OR PCemu. So I tried the PS2 version running a ROM on PCSX2 (Reggie said it was ok) and while it did run, the game does not have good support on that PS2 emulator, and it was too glitchy and visually unplayable. Textures being transparent and glitching all over the place. Not good. So my solution was to play it physically on original hardware. I have a PS2, But I'm just past the point of recording any game footage that is 720p or less if I don't have to.

So, all that summed up, the only way I could play this in full HD functionally, was to get a fat PS3 (The only mainline video game console from Sony I didn't have besides a PS5). This was hard enough to find for a good price. The original fat PS3 consoles are very sought after for their backwards compatibility with PS2 games. The 40 and 60 GB versions are often purchased, modded, and resold for like $350 with some RGB lights and stuff. I really didn't want to spend that if I don't have to.

I ended up finding the one in the pictures above for around $150 because it has a goofy corner. I had to open it up and fix that, but other than that, it works great. Now THAT being said, I still haven't played Time Quest because, fun fact, the PS2 version of the game was in PAL region only, and the PS3 is region blocked, sooooo, here I am modding my PS3, jailbreaking it so I can make it think I'm in Britain or something.

If THAT doesn't work, I do have a snazzy new old Windows XP PC that I could use, but my gosh is that thing hard to move in front of my green screen, so fingers crossed that this works.
