2023-10-27 09:50:27 +0000 UTCHa! When I was first imagining Joan, she was less a character and more of a plot device, a malicious figure who sets Tibbs down a bad road. And at one point I considered that she would lie about being pregnant as a means of controlling Tibbs. But then I inevitably got attached to her and decided to humanize her some, so no more pregnancy scare for our young hog couple. Tibbs is being dumb here, but he ain't THAT dumb. Lulu herself got pregnant too young, she probably launched into a loud tactless mortifying "don't be silly, wrap your willy!" speech the SECOND Tibbs hit puberty
