Skye: Hey, Ted….my girlfriend wants to talk to you, but she gets kinda shy around big strong bucks. Wanna show her you’re just a harmless cuddly teddy bear?
Teddy: Normally I would, but I’m honestly feelin’ a little weak in the knees myself right now. It’s not everyday a blonde bombshell like Maddie graces one of my humble houseparties….
Madison: 💗💗💗!!! <3

Skye and Sunny are both polyamorous (and gender-fluid). It’s a discovery they don’t make until later in their lives, until they’ve already been dating for a year or so. Sunny, who is almost aggressively loyal, tends to get a little starry-eyed and obsessed with his current romantic partner (eg. Virgil), to the point where the thought of non-monogamy never crossed his mind before. Skye, who is also a paragon of typical canine loyalty, always assumed she was staunchly monogamous, even a bit of a jealous type, as evidenced by how she felt her hackles raise when Biscuit first tried to push Honey as a potential new love interest for Sunny. It turns out….nah, Skye just kinda hates Honey, not the entire concept of Sunny being with other people.
Some time into their relationship, Sunny starts experimenting with his gender presentation and identity. Sometimes Sunny likes to be known as Madison, or Maddie or Sonny for short. Skye is highly supportive, because she loves Sunny (and because girl hot). In fact, she loves Sunny so much that she decides to foray into “crossdressing“ herself….just for fun, of course. Ha. Just so she can play a cool “boyfriend” to Sunny (who happily soaks up the attention). Skye definitely doesn’t take a newfound interest in masculine clothes, and he definitely doesn’t find a secret thrill in being referred to with he/him pronouns. Sunny definitely doesn’t kiss Skye on his silly overthinking snoot and tell him that she fully supports Skye, and their relationship, and she can’t wait to learn more about who they are, together.
The polyamory is a later development, what starts out as a half-joking pillowtalk (“haha, if you could pick one of our friends to have a threesome with who would it be?”) evolves into “my partner is awesome and I NEED other people to know exactly how awesome they are! >:O”. (This is initially more on Skye’s part, she reaaaally likes to encourage/watch/participate in her dear Sunny playing with others.) Culturally speaking, dogs are quick to pack-bond and form friendships, and have one of the more higher rates of polyamory among FB critters (anybody can be poly, but it’s notably more common in hypersocial animals that naturally want to form packs, herds, prides, etc). Skye and Sunny are deeply loyal to each other and have yet to find anybody they truly wish to officially date, but they definitely both have their fair share of suspiciously close friends. Ted is friends-with-benefits with both Skye and Sunny, and has earned their pack-loyalty forever with his insistence on always making them blueberry pancakes whenever they stay over.
