Cloudy and Peebles

PB Sandwich struggles with bouts of depression and anxiety. Having been subject to his parents' "Smile Smile Smile!" brand of relentless cheer, he's been suppressing all less-than-chipper feelings for most of his life. It is only in adulthood, and after befriending Midnight, that he learns that sometimes it's okay to not be okay.
As with mama Pinkie Pie, PB's hair loses its bouncy curls when he's feeling down. He used to anxiously wash and blowdry his mane to disguise his somber mood (Pinkie and Cheese love their youngest child dearly and panic at the slightest hint of a frown), but has slowly stopped doing this. He's most certainly not going to pressure Cloudy to turn her frown upside down or try to cheer her up with a single bubbly musical number. Unless, of course, that's what she wants. PB has an accordion and can whip it out fast enough to break the sound barrier.

Personally, I believe that suffering is kinda inherent to the human experience. Highs and lows go hand in hand. Even if a person does not suffer from the brain chemical issues that prompt depression, it's almost inevitable that they will experience a trauma that will induce a depressed state. Break-ups, abandonment, death of a loved one. Even the cheeriest person cannot possibly be happy and content all the time. Twaddles is pretty well-adjusted...but he is still a person (pony) like any other. He struggles with anxiety and sometimes has full-blown panic attacks. I also think he'd feel pretty lonely, sometimes. He has a few close friends that he treasures, and they absolutely make time for him. But his friend PB has Midnight, and even his best friend Cloudy eventually tumbles into a relationship with Zipperflash. These relationships mean his friends have less time for Twaddles. He longs for closeness, for a special someone to be his friend and listen to him and be loved by him, and he sometimes despairs that he'll never find anybody. Fortunately for Twaddles, I have a new friend/love interest in mind for him.

2021-06-30 16:30:12 +0000 UTCPB is just too damn pure and good for this world, Pinkie and Cheese seem like great parents but even the best parents make mistakes and it's interesting that their flaw was unrelenting positivity. EDIT: Also, it seems like Pinkie is incredibly reluctant to have her children "leave" her to live their own lives.
