Old Ass Art: The Beginning of Pancake

So I've been moving furniture around and cleaning, and lookie what I found! The very first attempt at Pandora/Cupcake shipping. Sorry it's so rough looking, I can't access my computer at the moment to clean everything up. I reckon these doodles are maybe five or six years old, you can see I was still figuring out how to draw adult Pan, for a while she had more ponyish facial proportions. Back then I figured Cupcake was kinda tsundere and hid her emotions behind a stoic exterior. She became Pandora's minion to be closer to her, because Cupcake had a giant crush on her boss that Pan was comically oblivious to. In the first drawing, the dialogue goes:

Cupcake: I love you, okay?! I love you, but you don't love me, so I've gone and ruined everything! I wrecked our friendship because I was so angry inside, don't you understand?! I'm an awful friend!

Pan: Cupcake.....

so yeah, typically Lop brand melodrama there. Later I figured it'd be more interesting if Pan, the giant overpowered demigod, was hopelessly in love with a plain little earth pony (who is comically oblivious).

In the second doodle, they apparently work things out and have a big dramatic kiss.

Pan: Cupcake?

Cupcake: *dreamily* Mmm? 

Pan: *joyful, incredulous* You're smiling! You never smile!

Cupcake: Is that so?

tbh i still like this bit of dialogue. I need me some unaware-that-she's-smiling-like-a-lovestruck-fool Cuppers  

Third doodle goes:

Cupcake: Fine. I guess I do love you, you dork. I loved you all along. Happy now?

Pan: Yeah, I am, Cuppy.

We can see here Pan and Cups were getting closer to their canon personalities :)

I think back then I figured Pan would be greatly lusted after by the general populace, being a giant freaky noodle and all. I guess this would've contributed greatly to Cupcake's anxiety and fear of confessing her feelings. That pony being held in her coils seems to be a proto-Bruce. One of my first ideas for Bruce was that he was an artsy hipster who was greatly interested in Pan's exoticness (think Trenderhoof), and Pan was weirded out by his romantic pursuit. Honestly I still think this idea is kinda funny and may tinker around with it still- after all, the only ponies canonically interested in Pan tend to be weirdos, perverts that demand paw pics, and the few friends shes managed to charm.
