midnight: "...you say peebs is a doofus, but I literally saw princess twilight walking around the other day with one of Discord's socks on her horn to test the effects of his magic-imbued footjam on spells, and you pined after her for YEARS." after the post you made of cadance and aj having a talk about magnolia's pronouns back when she decided she was a girl, I'm stuck wondering if sunset and starlight don't need some kind of similar talk about addressing your child how they'd prefer to be addressed (preferred name v. given name and similar stuff). I can imagine that sunset and starlight calling their daughter by the name they gave her is one last piece of control they still have, after their young, pretty, pink magical prodigy daughter became disillusioned with the world and turned into a goth, part-time witch instead of the princess they might have been hoping for (just a little). Both starlight and sunset have been shown to be pretty stubborn and difficult when they don't get their way, so calling Midnight 'Morning Glory' is probably one of the last vestiges of the daughter they had envisioned that they can hold on to. that being said, i can see sunset being more supportive of it than starlight, overall. while starlight might call midnight 'morning glory' all the time, i can see sunset calling midnight by her preferred name while the two are alone, or when she's trying to get midnight to let down her guard. it kind of goes with the 'almost painfully supportive' vibe i sometimes get from your depictions of sunset, and the 'kind of has a stick up her ass' way i see starlight. on that note: sunset to a young teenage midnight: "and remember, if you ever want to drink-" starlight: "remember how any decision you make has the potential to ruin your future." sunset: "-just let us know so we can make sure you're okay! we'd rather have you experiment in the house where we know you're okay!" starlight: "but also don't drink." ((ps, I see your mii hands on starlight and i raise you 'the mii theme music plays on loop in midnight's head when she's tuning out mrs. cake's over-enthusiastic spiel about vagina stitches' ))
