Thief of Joy

Rainbow almost certainly quickly realized her tactlessness and spun around to give Phoenix the mom lovin', but the fact is, Aerostorm was the golden child growing up, and Nixie was.....not.

I'll try to get to it. :)

i really love how you’re exploring more in dept into the relationships between the main six and their kids, have you considered drawing more of the relationship between magnolia, rarity and aj ?

Good suggestion! I'll try to get to it! :)

I absolutely LOVE how you're doing more with family dynamics! I really hope you do more with your other characters! Can we see some Cloudy and Nix interactions if ya haven't done that yet? :o

Ah, poor Nix. She didn't really grow with the support she needed. Though I wonder if Cloudy was there for her like the rest of her family.

I think Stormy knows something is wrong, but he doesn’t know it’s jealousy. He just kinda assumed Nix was weirdly, persistently mean and spiteful, and is frustrated by why his sister seems to hate him. He’s always tried to be a good big brother, hasn’t he? He remembers holding his newborn baby sister with his own teeny, clumsy hooves, and loving her so much already. Where did it all go so wrong? Stormy blissfully unaware of his own faults. He thinks he’s a chill, blissed out flower boy, but the fact remains that he does have an ego. A competitive streak that comes out when provoked, whether by jackasses like Zipperflash, or a mean little sister. It’s entirely possible that Stormy delighted in his mother’s attention and praise toward his flight abilities, seeing as Phoenix so often outclassed him at schooling or wrestling. It’s possible Stormy subconsciously picked up on Dash’s favoritism. While he may have initially tried to share the spotlight with Nix, as their relationship soured, he may have started rubbing her nose in his victories, just a little. Never unprovoked. But he’d definitely bring it up whenever he felt Nix needed to be taken down a peg. I think Phoenix is Stormy’s most honest relationship, Nix can see him and his faults most clearly. She can always see through him, and that tends to put Stormy on the defensive around her. I think if Stormy were to learn Nix lashed out at him because she’s jealous, he wouldn’t believe that (Jealous? Of me? She sure doesn’t act like it), and then probably overcompensate with a big, semi-patronizing outpouring of affection, which Nix would reject. For them to connect, Stormy needs to get a little vulnerable. A simple “Mom is proud of you.....I’m proud of you.” would probably do wonders for his relationship with his sister

poor nixie. is stormy aware that he's a "golden boy" and that's the reason phoenix is resentful of him, or does he think her cruelty just comes out of nowhere?

Man, this is all too familiar. But I’m loving this in-depth look at Dash’s fam. I’m relating to Phoenix on a high level at this point. The fact she has to walk through her family home, seeing all the dazzling trophy’s her mother has won and wondering why her name isn’t upon them. I feel like if Nix did win some, the victory would still be bittersweet. She knew her parents cared. She had food in her belly, a nice warm home but did they love her? Did they love her as much as Stormy? Or Cloudy? Would they even notice if she wasn’t there? And how would Dash and Bell feel if she even thought this way? Would they even change what they were doing to help her? Man, Lop, ya really pulling at my heartstrings here

DASh can catch these hands. Poor friggen Nix.
