Discussion Post: How to Friendship
Added 2019-12-12 23:17:14 +0000 UTCVery interesting notes on that last poll y'all, thank you. I've been pondering the friendship between Pandora, Moondancer, and Cupcake. I think I'm guilty of telling, not showing when it comes to these three chums, to the point where I doubt their friendship feels multi-directional and equally reciprocated. We know Pandora and Cupcake care about Moondancer. Cupcake and Pan care about each other. But does Moondancer care about them? The answer is yes, but looking at my gallery right now, I'm not seeing it.
So what would you all like to see out of this friendship? Suggestions are very welcome! I'd like to illustrate them in their younger days, just hanging out, being bros and having fun. I imagine Pandora and Moondancer's relationship really leans more into friendly rivalry, about 80% snarky banter. Moon teases her about being a vexing accident-prone noodle creature with exactly one brain cell, while Pan often pokes fun Moondancer's snobbery and fussy nature (a bit reminiscent of Blueblood.) I mean the guy wears mane curlers to bed, how can Pan not sass him a little?
Moondancer and Cupcake have a more wholesome relationship. Cupcake was shy and quiet in her youth, Moondancer liked trying to coax her out of her shell, and still enjoys braiding her hair. He's got a soft spot for her, so sue him. Cupcake in turn likes that she doesn't have to be more interesting or more Pinkie-Pie like for Moon to seek out her company, she can just sit quietly and listen to him talk (and talk, and talk), and still enjoy herself.
Bonus HC: Moondancer likes to knit. Pandora likes to steal his yarn balls to chew and bat around. He gets his revenge by knitting her a stiff, itchy sweater every holiday season, while Cupcake always gets a soft comfy one.

It's nice to hear about this, because until the horn-cracking incident with Bruce and Huck, I couldn't think of when Moondancer and Cupcake had actually spoken to one another. Makes a lot of sense to make their relationship warmer than Moon's and Pan's, and not just for the sake of contrasts. But because they both seem like really sweet young kids. I really like to hear that Moony helped get her out of her shell!

It's a nice interaction that lets moondancer show a more altruistic side that gets lost a lot in his more selfish pursuits. Did cupcake ever knit? Perhaps their friendship began when moondancer started giving her advice out of the blue?
