today i realized that Grogar, father of monsters, isn't a goat, like i originally assumed. He's a ram (most likely a bighorn), which is a male sheep. I guess that makes more sense.....Goats in Equestria don't seem fully sapient and don't speak, but sheep do. (In one episode, Applejack is shown roughly shoving and corralling her flock of sheep into a pen, after which one sheep drily remarks "You coulda just asked."- to which AJ shuts the pen door in its face).
So Grogar is a sheep. Now I can't take him seriously. Sheep are cute and fluffy, I collect plushies of them.
fun fact (because i spent some time learning about the differences between sheep and goats): Rams are distinguished by their HUGE balls. Just imagine somebody stapled a soccer ball to a sheep's back end, that is a ram's testicles. I hope you're now imagining teeny adorable sheep Grogar with GINORMOUS BALLS flapping about in the breeze. You're welcome for the image!
