I legitimately had shivers the entire first watch-through . . . they always put so much into their performances and I love it!

Since you mentioned that you like the barefoot/loose dress outfits, I'm sure Soyeon would love to hear you say that. In the episode she expressed that she wants Idle to be a group that breaks prejudices, and in this performance, one of the things she wanted to do was break the prejudice that dresses have to be paired with heels.

Like almost every Korean label/production company CUBE has at least one fully-equipped recording studio in-house, just like there are several dance studios in-house for groups and trainees to use. Soyeon can book time in the studio whenever it's needed, and something like recording a comeback or a show like Queendom will always take priority. That's not unusual, but what IS somewhat unusual is that CUBE has set up/given both Soyeon and Minnie their own offices/composition studios in order to build their self-composed music. Since Soyeon writes/arranges/produces most of (G)I-DLE's music it's a major benefit for the group, and with Minnie continuing to write and produce more it helps her development also.
(G)I-DLE does have a manager, and each member has a personal manager to handle their business affairs. Soyeon is leader, but she shares the traditional "leader" duties with Soojin. Soyeon focuses on writing and producing music, creating stage arrangements, and choreography, while Soojin deals with the members' physical and emotional needs on a day-to-day basis - are they eating enough, getting to sleep on time, presenting a good mood during public appearances, etc.
CUBE is ABSOLUTELY dependent upon Idle now - Pentagon didn't really catch fire on their last comeback and while CLC have had a good year, they haven't blown up like Idle have. Soyeon and CUBE may occasionally disagree on the group's direction, but make no mistake - Soyeon is in charge.

Akin to what Tom Poston was saying, it kinda feels like CUBE is treating (G)I-dle like a strange mix between an artist group and an idol group... something that usually only happens to Idol groups on contract renewal if they make it REALLY big, strange for a rookie group (understandable)... for starters ive followed them a lot (the reason i started watching queendom, now i cant select a bias group/soloist) and I cant put a face on a manager, seems like its Soyeon... second they have their own recording studio (rare for a rookie group) and they seem to not have an overall concept they follow (a common trait in rookie groups, because it assures a sale)... lastly this song re entered the K-charts, cant remember if their B-sides where ever on, but nevertheless thats impressive.... PS this show is EPIC, the casting of Soyeon as ehm a bit ehm bad in the editing i kinda dislike, but other than that Mnet really did a good job

I have to wonder about Soyeon's mental makeup considering this is the second dark and twisted performance she arranged on Queendom. (I just don't want to talk about how it's turning me on).

The whole concept was thought up by Soyeon and she was able persuade the others to go with it. Look up Wengie doing her new song 'EMPIRE' as it is virtually a duet with Minnie showing what a great talent she is.

Soyeon & Minnie (the rest too but those two first and foremost) have "won" by seizing control of their careers. They have the talent and skills to write their own music, produce and record it, and aren't dependent upon CUBE or anyone else to be handed songs to sing. We call Soyeon our Captain, but it is literally true - she has the wheel now and is steering (G)I-DLE where she, and they, believe is the best direction. CUBE doesn't control their future any more.

I don't think CUBE will fuck up, because for all intents and purposes, (G)I-DLE is CUBE now. Idle is making probably 80% of the profit coming in to CUBE, with CLC making the remainder. Soyeon has shown that she can do literally anything and pull it off, and regardless of whether Idle comes out on top of the Queendom rankings, they are WINNING the competition with these performances that rack up millions of views, go trending, and introduce legions of fans who have never seen them before.

their music is really good. they're insanely talented. give a listen to their last mini album where the title track was Señorita. that album is love. it's where this song is from.
