Freeze

This is a japanese technique where you freeze ink on paper. It's the first time I've tried it and I love it and am learning how the ink behaves and what to do to get a look I want. The unfortunate thing about it is that, the paper being wet when it unfreezes, most of the ink washes off. Which makes me think that dye might be better. I BELIEVE I still have some in my textile box so I may try that next. The thing is that you need to use soda ash to activate the dye and I don't know how that would effect the freezing. Or the texture. It's still worth trying out though!
Lastly, this was actually done in the brown walnut ink but I color shifted it because naturally blue is more icy :P

Historically it was ink made from literal walnut husks but these days I'm not so sure. It could just be a chemical mix made to mimic the color.
