CM Update: GROOT!!!

This is the video topic that I am super excited about sharing with you all next week! It will be one of the more in depth discussions we've ever had on the show, and I can't wait to hear what you guys think about it. It's all about a fan favorite character from Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot! I don't want to give too much away, but this will not be a simple "Origin of Groot" video or anything like that. It will be a detailed analysis of why Groot is objectively a near perfect comic book character, and is also a stand-in for the unique value that comic books themselves have to offer. Okay, so that may have sounded boring when I put it like that, but trust me. This episode is shaping up to be one of my favorite episodes of the show I've ever done!

I could talk for hours and hours about that book. Once you read it, you will not look at comics the same way again. I'm just hoping that people will see that next week's video isn't just a rehash of Cracked's video, but an expanding upon it. They talked about Groot being a human abstraction for about 1 minute of their video. I'll be making an 8-10 minute video explaining that concept in further detail, as well as partially explaining why we love comic books in the first place, and other things that I'm tempted to give away but won't. There's going to be a follow-up PDF here on Patreon that dives into even more detail and will include images from the book. Oh, also, the book is actually a comic book in itself, so it's super easy to read and helps for people who are visual learners. I seriously can't recommend it enough.

Oh, thats awesome. Can't wait to see it, and I'll definetly look into the book

Yes, that was a big inspiration for this video, but hopefully you'll appreciate my further digging and research. Since that principle comes from Scott McClouds AMAZING book, Understanding Comics (which everyone should read multiple times), I'm diving a little bit more into detail than Cracked did by incorporating several other sources and concepts. Specifically that Groot is a comic book character that represents comics themselves.

I saw another video about groot being the perfect character. It was from Cracked.com about how a person can personify them self as groot imagining what he's saying, and taking his relatively blank face, and putting your own on. It was awesome
