A little update

Hello everyone!

It's been a long time since I last posted an update here.

My life has been more than chaotic lately, unfortunately, and things haven't been easy, but we're pushing through the best we can.

I wanted to address three things specifically in today's update:

Beyond20

First of all, I'm aware of issues with Beyond20 since D&D Beyond updated their website last week. There's been multiple updates as far as I'm aware, and many features have been broken. I've been keeping an eye on things from afar, and some amazing people from the community have submitted fixes to Beyond20 already. Unfortunately, every day since, I have not been able to find an hour of free time to look into it, review the changes and make a new release. That being said, I believe I should be able to find some time this week, and an update will be released for all which fixes those issues. I'll try to do it later tonight if I'm able, otherwise it might go to tomorrow or Thursday, but I'm doing my best to keep up with the needed changes. Thank you, everyone, for your support and your patience as we work through these DDB changes.

I sincerely hope this is the last time this is needed, but I've unfortunately hit a wall with the D&D Beyond team, they're just not responding and appear unwilling to work with us to mitigate these types of issues in the future 😒

R20Converter

If you hadn't noticed the update to the R20Converter post on May 26th 2024, then you should know that I've made the R20Converter app freely available to all. Patreon support isn't necessary anymore to get access to the software. I don't remember if I published the source code yet, but if not, then I plan on fully open sourcing the app as well (as soon as I'm able).

This marks the sunsetting basically of the project. It's been a successful and very helpful project to the community, and it's still perfectly working and usable by all, but I don't plan on pushing more updates to it at this time, especially with the change of database format in v11, making it a bigger task that I'm willing to spend time on. By releasing the app publicly and open sourcing it, it will hopefully continue to live on and the larger Foundry community can potentially help keep it up to date with newer releases in the future.

The Forge + D&D Beyond

We have pushed an update to The Forge's website today which removes the requirement for Patreon support in order to access the D&D Beyond integration features. The feature now requires Story Teller or World Builder tier subscription, and there's no differentiation between importing of rule books and adventures (i.e: both are available to Story Tellers and World Builders, equally). The DDB Integration feature is still in beta, as we unfortunately never fully finished the integration, but this is one step towards taking it out of beta and eventually also open-sourcing that code.

For now, those who are my patrons still get access to the feature, and we'll keep that access available to patrons as well until the end of August. This will give everyone time to continue using the feature while they decide if they want to keep their Patreon support beyond July or August.

That's all the news I wanted to share with you all today. Thanks again everyone for your support and patience and I'll give you an update on Beyond20 soon!

Hi! No, there's no more reason for you to be subbed to my patreon at this time. It still does provide access to the D&D Beyond integration (we left the access in since some people subbed to patreon for a year and we didn't want to short change them), as the features were rolled into the Story Teller and World Builder tiers. It's now easier, more accessible and cheaper for the users to get access to the D&D Beyond integration directly through their Forge subscription. Feel free to unsubscribe and thanks for the support until now :)

Hi, I'm clearly way behind on reading Patreon updates. One of my motivations to sub here was extra forge stuff. Is there any reason to maintain my DM tier here if I now need to upgrade my sub there for those features?

Thank you so much. You went above and beyond!!! Again, thank you!

Cognoscente

Hi, I'm not sure what you're talking about since my Patrons do still have access to the d&d beyond integration. We have not removed access yet. Make sure you've linked your patreon account with the Forge.

It is August 12. I no longer have access. I was told the only way to access the program was an expensive patronage. Since that is not true, Can you refund a prorated amount? No pressure, just asking.

Cognoscente

yeah, but even so, they were quite open before, and they saw the advantage all around, regardless of what they might have been developing. But I think since the WotC acquisition, the culture changed and the WotC culture is very much isolationist unfortunately.

Youness Alaoui

I'm not surprised they aren't talking. They do want to keep working on their own VTT.
