Foundry module updates and some news
Added 2020-04-14 02:48:58 +0000 UTCHi everyone!
Foundry 0.5.4 was just released yesterday by Atropos, and you can read the release notes here : https://www.patreon.com/posts/beta-0-5-4-notes-35942560
This release has a lot of new changes and it makes Foundry even better than before and gets it closer to that soon-to-be release!
It also has changed a couple of things in the API, so I wanted to update all of my modules to make sure they all worked with the new 0.5.4 release.
I'd usually list all of my modules here, with their manifest links, etc.. but with 0.5.4 being released, there's this new awesome Systems and Modules Browser that Atropos built right into Foundry! I've made all my modules available through it, and I've setup my profile page to link to all of them. It's just so much easier that way :)
All 9 of my modules were updated yesterday, and you can get the full list here https://foundryvtt.com/community/kakaroto/
I'll let you discover them and the new changes they bring, but here are the highlights :
Furnace now includes a compendium with a dozen useful macros that showcase the advanced macros system and can help new users figure out how to write macros.
Trigger Happy now has support for 'capture' triggers which prevent the player from jumping over traps and captures them within their area (Thanks to @tposney).
Polyglot now supports pf1 and pf2e systems as well as has a setting for adding custom languages!
The Forge module was also released. This module isn't needed by anyone using The Forge, however, if you export your game and want to load it on your local machine, it will allow you to access your Assets Library from your local install, as if you were on my website. I might also use it in the future to provide just the Assets Library portion of my service to those who would still prefer to self host.
Speaking of The Forge, I'm making some good progress on the server move and I'll be trying to achieve geo distribution at the same time, making it something achievable much more quickly than originally anticipated. I expect to have 3 regions, North America (East Coast), Europe and Asia.
As I mentioned before, I love the new systems and modules installer that was added to Foundry. I was working on something similar, but put that on hold while I concentrated on improving performance and moving to the new server. For now, I expect it will be full fledged by the time I finish and get back to my own installer, and I'll try to integrate with it as well. Installing via the forge directly would still be beneficial as you wouldn't use your data quota and would be able to load all the modules from the geo distributed assets library, making everything load much faster.
Thanks for being part of the adventure!

This might be a good place to start : https://github.com/foundry-vtt-community/wiki/wiki/Macros and you'll find examples here : https://github.com/foundry-vtt-community/macros Foundry is the VTT, Furnace is a module that adds quality of life improvements, Forge is a hosting service for Foundry, Plutonium is nothing more than unashamed piracy.

2020-05-26 03:38:17 +0000 UTCDo you know where I can find the most recent documentation for writing macros ? (Also, I'm already confused between Foundryvtt, Furnace, Forge, Plutonium, and um ... ??)

2020-05-26 02:26:56 +0000 UTCThe server is currently already in the East Coast of NA, but I am moving from one provider to another, which I believe will bring many advantages both to me from a system administration side of things and to you as users as it will allow me to do more and provide a better service. The move will affect everyone, and you will see an improvement in performance regardless of where you are (One user from Estonia did a test for me on the new server and saw their game load in 6 seconds instead of 43, even though he was testing from Europe against the North American server). The addition of Europe and Asia servers will also help people who aren't in NA. of course, but the specific purpose there is to decrease latency on the Foundry VTT websocket, which means it will mostly affect how fast you can move a token, or create a new actor, and things like that (going from 100 millisecond latency to 10 ms could make a difference if you do a lot of operations at once). Do note that the download of your images and other assets are already geographically distributed and already benefit from the highest speeds and lowest latencies, and that is not changing. I hope that helps, and thanks for asking!

2020-04-15 18:11:30 +0000 UTCWhen you say "North America (East Coast)," does that mean the server move benefits just that area and the rest of the continent will continue on the current server(s)?
