Hey everyone,
TLDR: I'm releasing a beta of the Drawing Tools module, feedback/bug reports are appreciated at this time. The module will become public when FVTT 0.3.5 is released.
First, I'd like to thank those who answered my questions in the previous post, it was valuable information, and I can see things a little clearer now I think. So, first, I'll keep releasing timed exclusive software for my patrons, as it would help trap... I mean bring people to support me, but it would also give perks to those who already are patrons, but afterwards I'll still release it publicly because 1) I like to make my stuff open and public for everyone to use, 2) Seems you stay for the support/encouragement, not with the hope of getting something exclusive, so it shouldn't offend anyone 3) Seems to be a common thing other creators do on patreon, so it's a system that is known to work. I don't know yet how long things will stay exclusive as a general rule; the R20Exporter, I'll be releasing later today, for R20Converter, I'm still waiting until I finish it before release, and the Furnace module will be released in about 2 weeks.
Now, moving on to the matter at hand! I've been working on the drawings tools module for FVTT for a while now and it's almost ready. Since this is the end of the month, I wanted to release this to you all today (so for those who were patrons in July but don't plan on staying patrons for next month, they'd still get access to it. If you can't access the post/attached file in August, here's a link to it instead).
The module isn't finished, I still have a few things I want to add to it, but mostly all major functionality is done. It's in a good enough state now that if you find bugs or have feature requests for it, feel free to share. For your information, my current remaining TODO items are adding text formatting options (bold, italic, alignment, maybe dropshadow options?), make the freehand drawings look smoother, and add a rotation handle.
I've also spoken to Atropos about this and his plan is to get it included in 0.3.5, but it might not all go in from the start, so you might only get the most basic functionality integrated into core initially (no texture support, maybe no text support at first, not yet sure what he wants to include). Some other features, he might not even want them at all into core as they'd be module territory. In either case, I will maintain this module to keep all of the functionality available and in sync with the core releases.
I'd also like to talk quickly about the module name itself. The Furnace, I'm super proud of that name :) For now, it only has the drawing tools, but the plan is for the module to have all of the quality of life improvements I've been doing. After having written 4 or 5 small modules, I figured having a single one with all of them in it would make more sense and would be easier to maintain.
Thank you and enjoy!
