Yeah. The blade also doesn't slice like a normal blade. It looks more like a blade meant for stabbing.

More like the user is able to do it. The blade is just normal. Kogu's magic and ki is channeled through the blade to perform these feats.

I have to wonder who’s idea it was to include an actual volcano with actual lava. Imagine if the Z-Fighters hadn’t participated and it had been normal martial artists in those pods. If someone had been unable to leap out of their pod and got melted by lava, would the companies in charge of this tournament have been held liable for the death? Or does everyone sign a waiver at the start saying “We are in no way to be held responsible if you suffer death due to environmental effects”?

Man this is a great story! I will say the I’m wondering what the red ribbon army. Androids are doing in this tournament? OK I’ll find out soon hopefully.
