I completely agree with what you say here. If I was at all convinced that the Christian god existed, I would do everything I could to appease the tyrant. I would also pray constantly for a clear and concise list of rules that hadn't been translated, retranslated and interpreted through the bias of others. We are talking about a literal eternity of torture here. This is why I have so much trouble understanding how anyone could truly believe and still take their chances on things that could lead to being burned. Why would anyone gamble with that?
