ANDOR Early Access/Uncut EP 4-6

Ayo ayooo, no schedule to these but wanted to catch up on more of this on the Patreon because why not? This belongs to the Pilot shows that I'm watching and after a few of you guys mentioned this, I decided to watch the first two episodes and see what all the fuss was about. Enjoy the random uploads, feel like it keeps things interesting!

ANDOR Early Access/Uncut EP 4-6

Comments

Season 1 was released an episode per week, but the first 3 episodes premiered together because they probably thought people wouldn’t be patient enough to wait 3 weeks to fully buy in due to the nature of the first 2 episodes. Really just feels like a movie cut into 3 parts.

I don't remember what it was like for season 1, but season 2 was released in 3 episode chunks each week. I'm totally with you on weekly releases rather than mega dumps, gives you something to look forward to.

There were two Star Wars games that more or less fit your description. Knights Of The Old Republic 1 and 2. Awesome rpgs that released on the original Xbox. Fantastic games.

Episode 7 is the only time, where the series breaks with the 3-episode structure. It's like bridge episode, that leads from the Aldhani arc/act to the next one (episode 8-10). Then episode 11+12 go together. the second season has no outliers and completely follows the 3-episode structure.

Ireland is cool but you really should check out Iceland for some wild landscapes

I really hope you do a Rogue One rewatch once you finish up with Andor.

I really love the themes in this arc a lot but one thing I really love is the sound design, specifically with regards to the tie fighter. In the movies the tie fighter was always pretty much cannon fodder for everything else. But here, when it flies by, it's loud and it sounds like it growls\screams. It just highlights how terrifying they are.

Watch that scene/episode in HDR. The colors will tickle your brain!

As I have said in your last upload, the contrast and color ARE there. The Andor release that's available on streaming is in Dolby Vision. You aren't seeing the full color gamut. In order to get full color depth (and more contrast), you need to watch Andor on either Blu Ray or the 4k UHD Blu Ray and in HDR. Dolby Vision will give you SDR colors and is less contrasty. They did that because most don't have HDR capable monitors or TV's. Streaming on an HDR TV or on a monitor that is HDR compatible or if you are on a Mac, it will get you most of the way there. But to unlock the full color range with the added color depth, you will need the Blu Rays to get access to the LOG video and have your HDR monitor/TV render the video in all of it's unique Kodak 2383 inspired color film look.

Awesome comment! Thanks for this!

about your point on the inspiration behind the Aldhani people, as for most of this show, Gilroy uses inspiration from a bunch of historical events throughout history and fuses them together. The relocation of the Aldhani people closely parallels "The Highland Clearences" from Scotland in the 18th / 19th centuries where greedy scottish landlords forcibly evicted tenants and farmers from their homes to work in overcrowded communities. You also have "The Nakba" from Arab history where 700.00 native Palestinians were expelled for the creation of the State of Israel. And finally the "Trail of Tears", a death march, where 60.000 Native Americans were forcibly relocated across the country. Gilroy does this with alot of his writing in this show. Rebellion and revolutions are countless through the centuries, and inspiration is taken from all over the place!

I enjoyed the show before this point, but “The Eye” is the episode that truly hooked me. The suspense they built up throughout the heist is just impeccable.
