The Wire Season 4 EP 3 & 4 Early Uncut Access

Season 4 is finally here! The Wire has been sitting at the throne for some of my favorite experiences in television and I can't wait to dive deeper into its story and characters. A difficult landscape with puddles having the depths of oceans.

The Wire Season 4 EP 3 & 4 Early Uncut Access

Comments

Woah I just rewatched the full reaction and I’ll say this, because I honestly don’t remember, but Micheal has multiple signs of being sexually abused or coming to terms with his own homosexuality. He flinches and moves away when curry touches him, he makes a comment about the boxers body but then gets awkward and immediately switches up to make a comment about his woman probably being fine, and when he’s alone in the car he bugs out and decides to walk home. This came out when I was younger and now that I’m pushing 40 and a licensed psychotherapist, that shit pops out…serious red flags there and amazing acting/writing to show that in these little nuanced ways

Jesse Trovato

Presbo's evolution is so wild, it's amazing what people can do when given chances

Ken North

I don't know if you know this or not: many of the extras on this show are directly from this neighborhood, even the main cast. Felicia "Snoop" Pearson is semi fictional as she plays a younger version of herself. She is so terrifying because most of the time, she's not acting. The decon, as played by Melvin "Little Melvin" Williams is the original Barksdale that the wire is based on. He was a drug trafficker in the 1960s turned activist after prison. So if you ever wondered what happened to Avon, that's him.

Bd Blake

Wow!! That’s interesting! I can only imagine all the other conflicts that were dealt with on set.

James Adams

😭😭

James Adams

The actor was top tier in the Marlo role.

James commentary in earlier seasons about this series being more about class than other issues had me excited for him to see this season. Season 4 came to mind when he was discussing class in past episodes. Baltimore is unique amongst US cities as their city and county are separate governing bodies making the class issues normal cities face far more impactful. The wealthy living in the county not contributing tax money to the Baltimore city school system adds additional problems to the complex issues most major cities face with their schooling systems within the United States.

“how could they allow this to be aired” i know what you mean. this show is basically a huge middle finger to the government. I understand that you feel, after watching the show, people would be opening their eyes and getting together to revolt against/fix the system, but it just doesn’t work like that. Remember jeffrey epstein? yeah that shit was like 4 years ago. why hasn’t anything been released yet? If a government-level CHILD trafficking ring isn’t enough to get the average citizen to wake up and make an effort to fight the corruption in our nation then i doubt a tv show will

Leric

yeah it was funny that the next show I saw him in was Bosch and in that show he's a detective with a family (wife, kids) and it was so weird of a transition for me seeing him that way after Marlo.

Jaz Rodgers

Your comment about being surprised the Series was released hit a point because Baltimore leadership wasn't having it after Season 1. They felt it was giving Baltimore a black eye which could hurt it's tourism. You notice a lot of dock scenes in Season 2? It was because Simon was fighting to have his permit granted to continue shooting in the city. He threatened to shoot the scenes in Philly and Baltimores leaders realized they'd lose out on $$ if he took business elsewhere.

I also work in education in Baltimore and this show is so realistic. It’s hard to believe that Baltimore has some of the highest funding per student in the country yet some of the lowest test scores etc. I hear from teachers in all different kinds of neighborhoods that the biggest issue is each kid comes in with their own set of life problems and the kids have to figure out a way to overcome or come to peace with those before they can even focus on learning anything. The situation in the schools can seem more futile than the war on drugs but you have to take the small victories the kids who you leave better than you met them as a reason to keep trying.

Jonathan

You mention how great Marlo's actor is, Jamie Hector. After you finish the series (to avoid spoilers), you should check out some interviews with him. He seems like such a friendly, sweet guy in real life. It's interesting how some of the nicest people can be so intimidating when they are in-character.

Kana Kawase

Lots of great scenes in these two episodes. I know this season is particular heavy, which is why I appreciate moments of levity like Lester and Bunk at the bar, Lester still trying to work while Bunk is thinking about that “pussi” 😂

William Davis

Breaks my heart honestly.

James Adams

Yup, caught that!

James Adams

In episode 4 it's not super obvious, but Sherrod's got out an algebra book and a thesaurus. Lying to Bubbles that they go together. That's when Bubbles realizes Sherrod can't even read.

Went to a public school in Dundalk which isn’t inner city Baltimore but is essentially season 2. When they mention “the point” they mean sparrows point and that was like 5 minutes away. I later became a teacher in a level 5 school which is a school for all the kids that got expelled from regular school. This was ‘08 and this season is 04-05 I think. All that to say Dukie hurts my heart so much. All the kids are great and knowing their journeys fills me with highs and lows (just wait) but man the Dukie’s of the world, those gentle souls born amongst the jagged edges, will really fuck you up if you think too long on it. Such an amazing young actor!

Jesse Trovato

He’s taking a week break between seasons.

William Davis

What happened to the office episodes?
