2025-03-07 08:25:53 +0000 UTCThat Punisher tattoo at the end tells me they're going to tackle something that has impacted real life and is reflected in the comics. A couple of decades ago, the Punisher logo was starting to be used and subverted by the police, military, other law enforcement communities, and militia groups. You may have seen an example of this as a sticker on someone's car showing the punisher logo with a black and blue version of an American flag on it. There have been police departments that have even painted that logo on their law enforcement vehicles. Due to the Punisher logo being co-opted, they got rid of the logo in the comics. There was the typical outrage from the grifters on youtube but I think most people understood why Marvel comics did it. As far as the show is concerned, it makes me wonder if there's a secret group of police giving out Punisher style brutality and that's why Frank is coming back. If the writers and producers are going down that route, I'm really glad. Jon Bernthal has commented at various times about how the Punisher logo has been misused and has even suggested the Punisher would go after some of the groups who subverted the logo, corrupt cops being one of those groups. EDIT: I posted this on youtube but my comment might be nuked by the AI gods there.
